Guest guest
Summer is gradually heating up in india. Thirst is never ending. This is the season we used to make mango jams, orange squash, lemon squash etc for summer drinks. And sodium benzoate is the preservative of choice, as per the teaching of Central Food Research Institute, Mysore. FDA says it's dangerous and a contributing factor to developing leukemias and lymphomas when sodium benzoate chemically reacts with anything containing vitamin C, which produces benzene. Benzene is definitely linked to these diseases. Another good reason to not drink soda, lemonades, cola etc. Unfortunately, sodium benzoate is in other products as well, like jams, squashes, ketchups etc It's always vital to check the list of ingredients. The news is important for indians too, since Gulkand available from most pharmacies contains this preservative, and in summer the sale of Gulkand soars along with level of mercury.
