Dear Sraboni

Vaidyas are very much remembered if their remedies do not work as

expected, or work only partially. There is a proverb in Marathi

language 'Garaj saro aani vaidya maro' which means if we are recovered

and healthy, who cares vaidya remains alive or becomes dead?

This is written because of second sentence in your mail. a 13 month old

under antibiotics! the lemon juice is now only throwing out residues of

antibiotics. Green color is OK, excess bile, which is also confirmed by

sour smell. These are nothing but loose motions during teething. 999

children out of 1000 get them. This is very normal no need of

antibiotics, but to keep mothers pulse normal here are few more

suggestions.

1. Continue lemon juice and misri as suggested.

2. Give her curd or butter milk in ample quantity, as they contain

probiotics (friendly bacteria which help control diarrhoea, our body

contain nearly 400 varieties of them and antibiotics wash out some of

them, causing the type of motions you have indicated). When curd or buttermilk quantity becomes more than what body needs, some curd like smell in motions will be experienced; this is the correct quantity. The stools of breast fed (only) babies is a rich source of probiotics. Smash of apple boiled in water for 5-7 minutes and juice pf pomegranate are also good and would give her a diverse menu.

Rice Kanji, should be mixed with curd or butter

milk. Salt with misri in a glass of water serves as electolyte

to compensate for loss of electrolytes if any.

3. take a little honey, mix in a little saindhav salt if you have. mix

thoroughly and rub on her gums gently, twice a day.

She will enjoy taste.

4. If you can get Javantri, roast a little on hot plate and powder it.

mix in a little honey, and further mix in breast milk and let her sip,

twice a day.

5. If you can get maize fruit stem (remains after eating maize seeds)

burn it partially, and powder the coal so formed. Mix in this powder

two to four pinches in butter milk and let her drink.

Additional problem during teething can be 'Madras eye' development. if

it happens get back to this author. and remember vaidya first, before

an allopath. Some members have got off-list responses to querries

in 'emergeny conditions' within two hours! This applies only to baby

cases!

100% watery Loose motions with no solids in, are nothing but body

eliminating deadly poisons. Just keep hydrating body, not stopping

poison elimination using strong poisons of allopathy.

Though 5 suggestions are given, author feels that only 1 and 2 may be

adequate, other three suggested for other moms reading this post.

problem for the last 10 days. Initially, it was bad and the doctor

prescribed some antibiotics .First 5 days I was giving her boiled rice

with salt only (as Todd suggested ) for the whole day. Then she refused

to take it and her appetite is very normal, so I started giving her

normal food. I am also giving her the misri- lemon juice mix as

suggested by Dr. Bhate. My problem is even after 10 days she is still

continuing the loose- watery - muddy kind of stool 2-3 times a day, the

colour is green and it has a sour smell.
