Dear Richardji,

As I said earlier though I don't prescribe gems as remedy, I have

nothing against them and do admire their beauty and buy them for my

wife and

daughter.

Your expertise and experience in gems is known and respected. I also

respect you for the strong stance you take against unethical trade

practices.

After you gave some basic price factors for Rubies I checked 3 sites

out of which 2 are by highly reputed Indian organizations. Please

see the

following:

1.Reputed website www.sify.com - Ruby price - 1.75 CARAT - Price -

Rs.

10937.50 / USD 241.93 check at >

http://shopping.sify.com/shopping/product_detail.php?

pid=13171717&prodid=13612159

2.Reputed website www.indiatimes.com which belongs to the highly

reputed

Times of India newspaper group gives - Ruby basic quality - INR 2427

for

2.25 rattis = appx 2 carat. See at >

http://shopping.indiatimes.com/ism/faces/tiles/product.jsp?

productID=743405&catalogueID=195102&categoryID=776579&parentCategoryI

D=776553

The same website gives Ruby premium quality INR 11475/- for 2.25

rattis = 2

carats. See at >

http://shopping.indiatimes.com/ism/faces/tiles/product.jsp?

productID=619313&catalogueID=195102&categoryID=776580&parentCategoryI

This website sources its gems from their panel astrologer Pankaj

Khanna, who belongs to a gemologist family.

3.Astrologer Uma Shankar Shukla, also a panel astrologer of

www.indiatimes.com has his own website www.astrolozy.com where he

sells Rubies - prices - Weight 5.25 Ratti = 5ct - Rs. 22500/-

See at > http://www.shopping.astrolozy.com/ruby.asp

So I can't understand what the is going on. Are there too many

famous fraud sites? Are there several qualities/grades of rubies?

Like premium, standard, basic, poor, wretched etc.? If so what are

the quality grades known as. I mean in gold we have 24 ct, 22 ct, 18

ct etc. Likewise do we have a grade a, grade b, grade c etc in

rubies and other stones? If so is there a way we the ordinary people

can know that, or ask the seller to guarantee with

specifications? I'll deeply appreciate if you can provide these

quality and price factors. It'll help a lot of people who are being

taken for a ride.

Please visit the links and comment on the products-quality-prices

and whether they are reliable or not because many people like me

depend mearly on the looks of the gems or the reputation of the

organisation selling them.

Thanks and regards

Pandit S.P.Tata
