Guest guest
Dear Raj & Richards, Regarding the trip to Muktinath, Damodar Kund and Mount Kailash &Manasa Sarovar: I just spoke to the owner as I am planning a trip to these holy places this summer and got some basic details. Muktinath and Damodar Kund - the two best periods are Sept to Nov & better still is March to April. Muktinath is about 8 to 10 hours trekking and most people can undertake it. Cost appx INR.10000/- per head. Damodar Kund - He was clear in saying the following "Even for us Nepalese it is a 4 to 5 days of tough trekking. I would not advise trekking to other non mountain people. You can have breathing-oxygen related problems". Helicopter trip is what he advised to Damodar Kund. Further more recently the Nepali Govt. has imposed US$ 750/- per head charges for Damodar Kund visit (which the travel agents are trying to get waived off). Apart from this the trip will cost additional INR.15000/- per head. Mount Kailash and Manasa Sarovar - it is a 16 days trip. 10th May to mid August is the best time. Cost is Appx 60000/- per head plus another 5000/- towards renting heavy fur lined leather coats, boots etc. This family owns a hotel in Katmandu and the prices include hotel stay, food, travel permits, and provide you the necessary heavy winter clothing etc. Right now the situation in Nepal is very bad. Wait and watch. Contact them directly Nepal attn: Mukesh Agarwal.
