Dear Mr. Brown,

Thank you for that explanation about cultured versus real pearls. I

knew this already from having taken GIA courses. But it is knowledge

well worth knowing. The part that was new to me was the

astrological power, which I admit I know next to nothing about.

I once worked for a lady in a very rich part of my city (Houston,

Texas) who did estate sales. She had a lovely necklace and earrings

set she wore on occasion of real Tahitian black pearls that were the

size of gumballs--over 2 cm diameter. She told me they were X-rayed,

all natural, a gift from a client of hers, and even originally from

Harry Winston!! I wanted her to teach me her profession of estate

appraisal, but she was afraid of competition, I suppose thinking

from a position of lack instead of abundance.

I have a black pearl teardrop shaped pendant that I assume is

natural because it is irregular, especially at the "pointy end" near

the bail. I have been to many gem shows and are well aware that

pearls are dyed many colors nowadays. This one looks like it has the

right shade of dark gray to be natural.

Astrologically, I was wondering if it was good to wear a black

pearl. I also have a ring with a large black pearl in it that I

bought at the same time, and it is fairly close to round.

I have a Navratna necklace I wear with 3 rudraksha beads from the

Rudra Center, according to my horoscope. I can also wear it wrapped

around my wrist four times. The 9 gems are beads in a row over and

over again repeated, instead of in a pendant. The only "center" is

the 3 rudraksha beads in a row in the middle. I have forgotten how

many faces the rudraksha beads have but it was done according to my

horoscope.

I do not have a Vedic astrology chart in front of my or anywhere

here that I know of. So is wearing a presumed natural black pearl

pendant good, or do you need to see my birth data?

Thank you and namaste Mr. Brown,

Sharon Gray

Hi Sharon,

I doubt that the lady ever SAW the X-ray certificate of the "pearls",

and she was probably just TOLD they were X-rayed. The large sizes you

describe are almost certain to be cultured.

Just consider that a natural pearl is a "single unit" sacred object;

but cultured has no insides, inside is a preshaped ball. It is not a

pearl, it is a covered imitation.

A real pearl is ALL pearl, right from surface through to the heart. A

wonder of God!!!

You should get your pearl X-rayed before deciding on it's use. Being

irregular means nothing because many cultured pearls are also like

that. The chance of your "object" being a natural pearl are next to 0.

Best rgds,

Richard
