Dear Richard,

I was wondering, since you were staying for long time in Kathmandu,

Nepal; I have read it is very common in Nepal to sacrifice animals in

hindu temples. I gather that this is done in Durga temples, but what

about the Pashupatinath temple, are animals sacrificed in that temple

complex? Is it historically known if animals was ever offered in blood

sacrifice to the Lingam of Lord Pashupatinath? As far as I know,

Pashupatinath means Lord of Creatures and Protector of Cattle?

Thank you,

Ole

Dear Ole,

The goat slaughter is only on Durga Puja. I never heard that it ever took place

in

Pashupatinath complex. I don't think so. In any case, slaughter of any animal is

uncivilized

in human life, what to speak of in religion. It is a very CRUDE person who can

cut the

throat of any innocent creature.

Best rgds,

Richard

Hi Richard,

Thanks for the info.

Is such goat sacrifice given by vedic shastra for Durga worshippers

or is it a Kali Yuga concoction?

Thanks,

Ole
