Hai OM

Is a Shalagram with a chakra different than a Shalagram with only

the imprint of a missing chakra?

in fact the Shalagram is the fossil of an amomonite - the attached

link will give an explaination of this creature:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ammonite

as for the fossil of the deceased creature or it imprint having any

bearing on it's power - I refer you to earlier posts on a gem

touching rhe flesh or not - it is found that the giving away of such

object gives more results then the wearing of said gems

My Beloved Self - it is your faith - the God within you that gives

the strength to your endeavor - your sadhana that bears fruit - the

most powerful Shalagram I ever saw was a small scaucer shaped one

with no imprint - just black smooth stone - it is in the home of Del

Yahn in Jenner Calif. - he was diong puja to it as he does daily -

he drank some of the water he pour over it and offered the rest to

me - the bhava from this worship still stays with this swami to this

day - if I ever recieve such a gift - I wish for one like his simple

smooth a focus of pure divinity

the power of the Shalagram is from you - not from some dead creature

nor it's imprint - you are divinity incarnate - only you can

enlighten yourself - Guru's such as this swami can point the way to

God - but we will not carry you there - all sacred objects are focal

points as in dharana - they steady the mind through one pointed

concentration - so you can move on to higher levels of understanding

Dear Guruji,

Hari OM!!! Namaste!! Your words are spiritual music to open ears. Thanks for

replying.

There is a story of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu when He was an infant. One day

while he was

playing with the other children, his mother Saci brought a dish filled

sweetmeats and

asked the child to sit down and eat them. But when she returned to her household

duties,

the child began to eat dirt. Seeing this, mother Saci returned and asked, "What

is this!"

She snatched the dirt from the hands of the child and asked why He was eating

it?

The child cried and said, "Why are you angry? You have already given me Dirt to

eat? What

is the difference? This body is a transformation of dirt, and the eatables are

also a

transformation of dirt. You are blaming Me without consideration. Why?"

Astonished that her child was speaking nonsense, mother Saci replied, "Who has

taught

You this philosophical speculation that justifies eating dirt?" Replying to the

child

philosopher, mother Saci said, "My dear boy, if we eat earth transformed into

grains, our

body is nourished, and it becomes strong. But if we eat dirt in its crude state,

the body

becomes diseased instead of nourished, and we will be ruined."

"In a waterpot, which is a transformation of dirt, I can bring water very

easily. But if I

poured water on a lump of dirt, the lump would soak up the water, and my labor

would be

useless."

The child replied to His mother, "Why did you conceal self-realization by not

teaching Me

this practical philosophy in the beginning? Now that I can understand this

philosophy, no

more shall I eat dirt. Whenever I am hungry I shall suck your breast and drink

your milk.

Respectfully

Hare Krishna,

It was really a very interesting mail. I am extremely happy that you explain the

things quite implicitly with wonderful examples. Actually all the Shaligama

Shilas with or without Chakras are equally powerful as all are 'Sakshat

Vishnu'. But I personally think that Shaligrama Shila with Chakras are more

powerful. I have felt the difference in the environment in my house when I

brought some Shaligramas with Chakras. It might be psychological for me but

definitely I observed a drastic change in my life. It was all for good.
