But in the case of Shalagram the Shastra says that the special stones from Kali Gandaki have chakras and marking caused by the activities of an amazing worm named "Vajra Kita" which has one diamond-hard tooth. In his special manner the vajra-kita worm eats the stone causing wholes and internal chakra shapes. Only a Vajra Kita stone from Nepal can ever be a real Narayana Shalagram murti. Actual ammonite fossils appear in other parts of the world but Shastra clearly states that ONLY Kali Gandaki - Vajra kita worm - Shalagrams (ammonites?) are fully possessed of Vishnu, and require NO installation. The glories of Shalagram Shila are such that even famous Deities in big temples or ANY Vishnu temple are NOT considered fully complete if devoid of a Shalagram. Shalagram is a must. And He Himself chooses where He'll go and stay, and how He will be worshipped, as friend OR KING!? Please see the link and sub links on the URL mentioned above. The Shalagram and Lakshmi Shank (Valampuri Pyrum, not Whelk) are too sacred to display in the Bangkok Museum. So the cyber museum version is the only place we can exhibit the sacred item that require puja every day. There is NO WAY that the glories of Nepali Shalagram Shila can be over stated. The glories are unlimited. Shalagram is NOT as a luck charm; He is Param Purush and deserves to be worshipped with no desire for anything except the pleasure of Lakshmi Narayana/Radha Krishna! I could say a LOT more on this but better to follow the link given about. Hope this helps... Om namo bhagavate vasudevaya!
