Dear Sir,

"Medakaha Pingasphatica peetrakthstamamomani,

Sanomanaha rahuratnach hassonite taduchyate"

In sanskrit Pingasphatica, peetrakhtamani, tamomani, rahuratna is

known as Gomedaka. In english it is called Hassonite and Cinnamon

Stone.

In Ratnaprakasha by "Rajroop tank" he confirms that the stone which

appears similar to the color of "Gomutra" is Gomedaka.

Garnet is actually a zircon which you are well aware of. The problem

is that some people recommend Garnet for Rahu and call it Gomedaka.

I too was confused about it because Garnets are of Red color or with

that tint. How can garnets be a stone for Rahu is un understandable.

Hassonites appear same as Gomedaka as they posses that color. In

Sanskrit too the PEET OR PINGAL means golden yellow shade. This

means Garnet should be a upratna of Sun and not Rahu.

Rahu has inverse properties of Jupiter. In this was also it should

have a dark tone of yellow. It should carry that " Dhmravarna"

inside.

Still i am not sure about it. I would like to hear your views on it.

I feel you know more about it.

Regards

Alok Jagawat

Dear Sriman,

Garnet is a gem species, just like corundum is a gem species. Ruby and Sapphires

are just

different colors of corundum. It is same with Garnet... red garnet is for Sun,

orange garnet

(gomeda) is for Rahu, green garnet (tsavorite) is for Mercury.

Best rgds,

Richard
