PICTURE: GAJA MOTI - 20.56 ct Extremely Rare & Certified Genuine

Elephant Pearl. The Elephant pearl is precious for many reasons.

Extremely rare and hence expensive, they are supposed to bring great

fortune to the owner of such a pearl. They are considered priceless

treasures, and usually only gifted by tribal chieftans, or accidently

found deep in the jungles. They are formed inside the tusks of an

elephant, but not every tusker contains the pearl. About one in a

thousand or fewer contain this much sought after pearl.

Sri Varunji,

Namaste!!! Good question. This piece claims to have a "certificate" from a Lab

in Sri Lanka,

but it was too small for me to read. I would assume that an elephant tusk pearl

would also

be ivory, just like an oyster lined with nacre creates a pearl that is all

nacre. It appear that

if the item was inspected it would show growth lines diffirent than straight

tusk. Like a real

pearl shows circuler growth formation in X-ray.

Best rgds,

Richard
