Guest guest
Om Namah Shivaya Dear friends, It is said that for purification of mind, body and soul, Sri Rudram is the best remedy. It also cleans aways any sins committed in the past. However, for one who does not know Sanskrit or has not been through yagnopaveet, it is almost impossible to chant Rudram. At best I can listen to it and chant the Panchakshari mantra. Any other thoughts/ideas about this ? It is said in the Kaivalyopanishad that even a sanyasi should chant Rudram atleast once in a day. So what is the solution for a person like me who does not know Sanskrit or does not have access to a Guru who can teach me the chanting. regards, Om Namah Shivaya

Guest guest
> Dear Friend, > > Not only those who knows sanskrit can chant rudram, It can be chanted by anyone if u have that desparation to do it. > Om Namah Shivaya Namaste, You missed my question. Namakam take about 25 minutes to chant and vedic mantras cannot be chanted without proper guidance. It is imperative to chant them with the correct pronunciation. Guest guest
Namaste Mahadevadvaita, If you don't know Sanskrit, just continue chanting the Pancakshara Mantra! And to settle the Linga from the Guru's mouth debate ~ it is common parlance among Sannyasins that the Pancakshara Mantra is a magical linga (auspicious sign) produced from the mouth of ALL true Shaiva Gurus and passed on to his disciples. The Mantra is alive, and its resonance is co-eternal with Om, and that is why it is important to receive the Pancakshara directly from the mouth of a Guru, who obtained it directly from his Guru, and he from his Guru, and so on back to the very dawn of Dharma. The solid manifestation of an inert physical linga from a Guru's mouth is a rather tamasic version of one of the highest truths of Hinduism. Guest guest
the words Srothram and Srothas-Srothas are two-Annavaaha srothas(alimentary canal) and Praanavaaha Srothas(trachea/bronchi and bronchioles-alveoli-wind pipe).Air travels through the wind pipe-creates vibrations in the vocal chord and the articulation is perfected by Pharynx/Larynx/ the peristaltic movements of the alimentary canal-buccal cavity tongue and teeth. The sound waves enters into SROTHRAM(ear) and creats the same vibrations-in the tympanam/three bones and coghlia and brain understands the meaning. So CHANDAS(Metre) of the Vedam can be learned only from a Guru's mouth(Srothas) -entering into the student's Ears(Srothram) So Vedam'synonym is SRUTHI. : > Dear Friend,> > Not only those who knows sanskrit can chant rudram, It can be chanted by anyone if u have that desparation to do it.> Lord shiva Mail Bring photos to life! Guest guest
Namakam alone-they should compulsorily recite Chamakam also(atleast one of the 11 anuvaakams-before and after Namakam-it is known as "Samputitham"-reciting all 11 is excellent) after Namakam. Then only Rudraadhyaayee becomes complete.sri Rudram is a part of Yajur Vedam-the synonym for vedam is "SRUTHI" -this syllable is derived from the words Srothram and Srothas-Srothas are two-Annavaaha srothas(alimentary canal) and Praanavaaha Srothas(trachea/bronchi and bronchioles-alveoli-wind pipe).Air travels through the wind pipe-creates vibrations in the vocal chord and the articulation is perfected by Pharynx/Larynx/ the peristaltic movements of the alimentary canal-buccal cavity tongue and teeth.
