students, eating rice, below her to the left, with a teacher. There are 4 girl

students below her to the right who appear to be praying. Directlly to the

left of her is a lady carrying shafts of wheat on her head and a sickle.

Directly to the right of her is a man in a white robe a loose pants with a

green sash, a red bag in his left hand and his right hand holding a red bag

slung over his shoulder. The only printer identifying marks say "SPP Delhi"

and "1332". Thank you for your assistance, kind friends. Sharon

>From your description it sounds as if it is the picture of 'Ann Purna Devi'.

Ideally you ought to scan the picture and post it on the group site for proper

identification. The description fits the form of Deity Ann Purna. This form

of deity is worshipped for blessings of food and harvest. It is believed that

if one can get this form of Deity to be pleased, the person can feed an army

from a bowl full of rice and would never run out of grains and other food no

matter how much they use it.

Not sure about the weapons in the hands of the Goddess though.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards

Anand

What Goddess is this?

Hello Learned Friends,

I have a picture of a Goddess my friend gave me. I have looked in my reference

books and cannot figure out who She is. Please help.

She sits in full lotus position on a red and gold bench-chair. The back of the

chair is round and carved ornately with a gold edge.

She has four arms. One has a bowl of rice, one is the palm-out blessing

gesture, one holds a sword and one holds Shiva's trident. She has a red purple

and green umbrella over her chair. She has a golden spiked halo behind her

crown.

She is in a pink and gold dress with many jewels on her belt and around her

neck, and on her crown. Her Gold crown has a ruby in the center and three

emeralds also. Her crown has four flat layers on top, somewhat like a pagoda.

The top layer is a cone pointing up.

There are 8 boy students, eating rice, below her to the left, with a teacher.

There are 4 girl students below her to the right who appear to be praying.

Directlly to the left of her is a lady carrying shafts of wheat on her head and

a sickle. Directly to the right of her is a man in a white robe a loose pants

with a green sash, a red bag in his left hand and his right hand holding a red

bag slung over his shoulder.

Thank you for your assistance, kind friends.
