First of all the thorn of body-consciousness has to be burnt into ashes by the fire of Jnana." -------------- Sri Ramakrishna Jnana and Bhakti are essentially the same! Look at the various Stotras that Sri Adi Sankaracharya composed. They indicate clearly that he had developed devotion to a very high degree. Self-surrender leads to Jnana; and Jnana is synonymous with Para Bhakti (extreme devotion). People nowadays condemn Bhakti and think that it is inferior to Jnana Yoga. They have no understanding of Bhakti. They think that they can jump at once to Jnana Yoga Sadhana. They have really no faith in God. They just acquire some intellectual conception of God. This does not serve them. Jnana Yoga without the necessary preparation is of no use. Guest guest
Aum. What ever be the path, whole idea is burn the ego..Shiv Ji has stated 112 techniques one of which is the Death Experience which also was used by Sri Ramana Maharishi.. and your goodself.. Some of us take birth as mentally and physically challenged in the world..they ignore the world and world ignores them..they are in their own world ..with very little ego left and soon transcend.. In Bhakti, one totally surrenders..but surrendering should be total..even without thinking of liberation in return..that is very difficult either..it is like running thru the busy traffic road with eyes closed..that faith is required !!.simple tear and vocal Jaap will not do..devotion will fly away once any event contrary to own's own nature happens..if one thinks that one is doinf bhakti then it is not bhakti.. In fact we all are thinkers and not seekers..truly speaking..Seekers donot think..!! In Jnana..even if one is being truly with the self..will spoil that state to test and judge if the state is bliss or not.. Liberation is a natural effortless process..mind has no place in the process..i mean mind making the effort.. Embrace the manifestation but as a witness as if all is happening as per cosmic law.. without any personal doership.. A desire is a desire..whether for Jnana, Bhakti , as a family man or as a brahmachari..to worship Linga as this way or that way..correct chanting of the letters..or not..to label one's own desire itself is obstacle to liberation.. Linberation is neither thinking abt it nor aiming for it..it is Sahaja.. Om Namah Shivaya.. anil , Selvaratnam Selvakumar <selvauk> wrote: > > Om Namah Sivaya > > “Jnana Yoga is exceedingly difficult in this age of Kali. In the first place, our life in this age depends entirely upon food. Secondly, the term of human life now is much too short for this purpose. Thirdly, it is almost impossible in this age to get rid of all the illusion that the Self is one with the body, which cling to us. Now the conclusion which the Jnani must come to is: ‘I am not the body, I am one with the Universal Soul, the Absolute and Unconditional Being.’ ‘ As I am not the body, I am not subject to the conditions of the body, such as hunger, thirst, birth, death, disease and the rest.’ One subject to these physical conditions and yet calling oneself a Jnani, is like a person who is suffering from intense pain caused by a thorn that has run into his hand and who nevertheless says, ‘Why, my hand is not at all scratched or torn. It is all right.’ THIS KIND OF TALK WILL NOT DO.
