Guest guest
dear shiv bhakts om namo bhagawate rudraya whatever shiv bhakt chandrashekharji said is true. but the irony is none of the shivling sold in the market today are pure mercury. even though the shopkeepers brazely tell white lies that silver is mixed with mercury to solidify and shape the mercury shivling, in fact it contains other metals instead of silver. i found a shop selling an iron shivling with white silvercoating as a silver-mercury shivling. these non-mercury shivling are not only sacrilege but also harmful. hence i too suggest not to buy a mercury shivling for worship at home. shivbhakts chandrashekharji, pillai george and myself are offering all kinds of genuine rudraksh and other holy items and one can get genuine products from these shiv bhakts. in praise of lord shiva and with best wishes arjun , chandrashekhar phadake <c_phadake> wrote: > > Dear Sir, > > I fully agree with you. Mercury is a deadly toxic heavy metal. It is a deadly poisonous metal affecting kidneys and brain cells. It is a neurotoxin. There is a wrong belief that mercurly does not get absorbed through the skin. It is not so. It can get absorbed through the skin. It also react with our sweating forming soluble mercury compounds, which then easily get absorbed through our skin. The mercury idols available in the market is not a pure form of mercury. They are made by mixing it with lead. It contains more than 95% of lead. Lead is also antoher heavy metal and is equally toxic for animal and plant life. 'Shendur' applied on idols of Sri Hanuman and Sri Ganesh is nothing but lead oxide. Lead oxide is also highly poisonous and it is advised to keep away from mercury and lead. > > There are strict safety regulations imposed worldwide in research laboratories for the disposal of mercury and mercury compounds. Mercury in its pure form and mercury compounds are not allowed to dispose off in the drain. As far as possible, use of mercury and its compounds in the laboratory is prevented. It is totally banned in many laboratories. Mercury compounds if used in the laboratory as exception, are collected seperately and then disposed off by other scientific means. > > We Hindus have a custom to take 'Teertham' after Pooja. It is advisable not to keep any mercury idols in your pooja altar. Teertha of mercury idols is highly toxic. If any body is interested, one can do internet search about mercury toxicity. In fact, I am of the opinion that government should put legal restrictions for selling mercury items. > > Thanking you and with best wishes, > > Chandrashekhar Phadke > > Brahmarpanam Brahmhavir <mahadevadvaita> wrote: > > Om Namah Shivaya > Mercury is a highly toxic metal.
