Om Namah Sivaya Sakkiya Nayanar Sakkiya Nayanar The people who seek the

Ultimate Truth, whatever be the religion they belong to if they do an impartial

analysis of Saivism, explore that this is an Eternal Path. It has neither

beginning nor an end. It is coexistent with man himself. It is not one man’s

teaching or interpretation. Nor is it limited to a single facet of religion. It

consists of the entire prism. It is a God-centric Path. The centre of it is God.

The Saivite concept is that each soul is moving ever closer to God over a

period of many lives. And when a soul reaches sufficient spiritual maturity, it

naturally awakens a conscious desire to know Siva (God) as its inmost essence,

to experience Truth personally. This path, this return to his Source, is ever

existent in man, and is at work whether he is aware of the process or not.

There is not this man’s search or that man’s search. And where does the impetus

come from? It comes from the inside of man himself. Thus Saivism is ever vibrant

and alive, for it depends on this original source of inspiration, this first

impulse of the Spirit within, giving it an energy

and vibrancy that is renewable eternally. This devotee was born in South

India. He was totally disgusted with worldly life and wanted to attain

Liberation. He learnt lots of philosophy, not for useless debating or grazing

to boast as a scholar, but to find out the Truth. He loved all the creatures in

this world. He reached the city Kanchi, which had lots of scholars and due to

false propaganda, he fell a victim to Buddhistic influence. He became a

Buddhist, but it did not satisfy him for long. He had the opportunity to

explore the principles of Buddhism and other

religions. He read the scriptures of his religion and other religions analysed

them with unbiased thirst for the Truth. Lord Siva always leads people in the

correct way if they are truthful and have quest for Him. By His Grace he

established for himself that it is the path of Siva is the Ultimate Truth.

He was attracted to Saivism and was convinced that, whatever be the external

appearance or conduct of one, if he had intense devotion to the Lord, he would

attain Liberation. Though he did not give up his external appearance of a

Buddhist, he adored Lord Siva. Common for the invisible formlessness and the

visible

different forms is the symbol of the Lord called Siva-Linga. This stands for

both form and formless. Siva-Linga appeared when Vishnu and Brahma tried to

find out the head and feet of the Supreme God. It is the symbol of the infinite

unexplainable Almighty. Realising these concepts he went to a open Siva Temple

to worship Siva-Linga everyday. One day, as he was sitting in the open Siva

temple and meditating on the Lingam, completely absorbed in the divine bliss

(Sivanandam), he self-forgetfully threw a stone at the Lingam. On the next day,

he went to the temple again and recollected the previous day’s action. He felt

that it was the Lord's Will, to reveal the profound truth that He would accept

anything offered by His Bhakta in devotion. He threw a stone that day too. That

was his daily worship, without which he would not take his food! it was not the

act but the unimaginable peaks of love that was accepted by the Lord as

flawless. Others saw only the stones, but Hara took that them as flowers.

One

day, when he was about to take his meal, he remembered that he had not done his

usual Puja: and unmindful of the hunger, went to the temple and threw a stone

with great devotion. The Lord appeared before him, blessed him and took him to

Kailasa. Sivaya Namah
