Guest guest
Om Namah Sivaya During the absence of Devi, when Lord Siva was alone, the sons of Brahma, who are sages Sanaka, Sanandana, Sanatana and Sanatkumara, came to have Darsana of Lord Siva and prostrated before Him. They entreated the Lord to teach them the way to remove Avidya and attain salvation. They expressed that in spite of the vast study of scriptures they had no internal peace and they were in need of learning the inner secrets, by knowing which they could attain salvation. Lord Siva, hearing this appeal made by the sages, assumed the form of Dakshinamurti (named after the Divine Mother) a personality he assumed to impart knowledge to the seeking Kumaras or the first-born sons of Brahma. He began to teach the FOUR Progressive Spiritual Stages of the Jivas, He explained Charya, Kriya, Yoga but to set a PERFECT example of the FINAL stage, i.e JNANA, He teach them the inner secrets by keeping Mouna (UTTER Silence) and showing Chinmudra by His hand. The sages began to meditate on the lines shown by the Lord and attained the state of inexpressible and illimitable joy (SIVANADAM). Thus Lord Siva came to be known as Dakshinamurti. This Chinmudra represents (i.e holding the thumb and the next fingure together and the other three separately) ONE and ONLY way to attain TRUE Salvation is to become free from triple impurities: Anava (egoism), Karma (action) and Maya (illusion) via the Grace of the Lord and hence REUNITE with ParaSiva. Picture of Lord Dakshinamurti : http://livingheritage.org/pix/dakshinamurti-200.jpg Lord Siva incarnated himself in the form of Dakshinamurti to impart knowledge to the four Kumaras. Bhagavan Dakshinamurti is therefore the first Jnana Guru of the Golden age viz. Satya Yuga, wherein the seeker after truth has by his previous performance of Svadharma and his penance destroyed all the impurities within his heart and thus goes before the Master with no obstacles (on his own side) on the path of Divine Knowledge. And the successive Jnana Gurus who follow Him in later ages of the same Krita Yuga and come from time to time in response to the needs and exigencies of the actual situation before them, merely carry on Bhagavan Dakshinamurti’s work of enlightening the world on more or less the same lines as have been explained. Sri Adi SANKARACARYA is an ASPECT of Bhagavan Dakshinamurti. Namah Sivaya _________ Messenger - NEW crystal clear PC to PC calling worldwide with voicemail http://uk.messenger.
