Guest guest
its pretentions for spirituality. A basic understanding of the phenomenon of thought is necessary before one embarks on the study of scriptures. Very many scriptures contain unsavoury ideas. In Bhaghavatha purana, highly extolled by the Hindus, there is a deliberate attempt to downplay the image of Lord Siva. There is a statement to the effect that the followers of this, 'beggarly' god thrive in all their worldy adventures, whereas in spite of Lord Vishnu being known for his great opulence, his followers pass through dire miseries, this irony being attributed to the fact that Lord Siva is only capable of conferring on the devotees worldy excellences, as against Lord Visnu being able to confer on the devotess the Beatitude of Freedom. What a narrow and limited thought in the name of Bakthi. with warm regards Sankarraman Enjoy this Diwali with Y! India Click here
Guest guest
I am sorry Sankarraman Would you be able to provide the actual texts or the reference points from SrimadBhagvat Purana where you derived your interesting conclusions from? It is just that sometimes we may see some verses pointing in a cretain way but it is only through reading the pre-text and post-text to those verses that we can really come to a complete conclusion. I would very much appreciate any references of actual verses that you could provide. Kind regards Anand [] On Behalf Of Sankarraman Gamesam25 November 2005 13:32To: Subject: Re: Advantages and disadvantages of Bhakti "dr. jaya" <pyari_h > wrote: Advantages and disadvantagesThe one great advantage of bhakti is that it is the easiest andthe most natural way to reach the great divine end in view; itsgreat disadvantage is that in its lower forms it oftentimesdegenerates into hideous fanaticism.
