Guest guest
Sh. Divakar, Your questions are answered with best possible manner limiting to my ability and capacity. In case of any clarification, feel free to raise them. Q1. How do we realize our life's Goal? In the fast world we are running after so many illusions, knowing pretty well that they are illusions, but we cannot stop, at least I am how do I know my life's purpose? Realisation of ones life goal (spiritual) is known to the individuals through meditation. The most important thing is to stop the flow of thoughts. There are various schools of thought to guide one to achieve this. The method, which is depicted under is one of the methods. This method is time tested and known to the very small group of people. Unfortunately in our country, most of the powerful methods are kept under secret and passed on to the trusted and favourite disciples. Lets not deviate from the subject. The purpose of citing above is that to start this meditation with full faith and belief. This meditation as described below shall be started with the period in minutes equals to ones age. I.e. a person having 30 years of age shall start this meditation for at least thirty minutes and so on. Mind is responsible for creating thoughts and drift the self from the target. So during this meditation no mantra shall be chanted. Take Sukhaseen (Easy sitting posture). One may sit in Padmaasan on the floor or sit on a chair. Take two or three deep breaths. Eyes shall be closed, as eyes are the windows of mind. Erect or keep the back straight. Do not make the back (Spinal) too tight. It makes the passage narrow for the flow of cosmic energy. Further, this will produce strain and results in strain, as result meditation cannot be continued further. Start observing the breath (the inhaling and exhaling) Please do not chant any mantra or open eyes. Do not breath forcefully. It should be normal one and it should go on by itself in its natural pattern (Involuntary). What happens by observation? At first, the length of breath is long. The cosmic energy starts flowing in to the body through Brahma rundra. It starts flowing through all 72000 Naadis. This flow starts cleansing the patches in the etheric body. All these 72,000 Naadis with its net work in the physical body is called Etheric body (a Convention). The entire network is cleansed and flow of cosmic energy intensifies. During the process of cleansing, one may get pains at particular area or the entire body. For these pains, one need not consume any medicine. By continuing the mediation on following days, the pain vanishes by itself. Vanishing or relief from pains signifies complete elimination of patches in the etheric body. By continuous observation, the breath becomes shorter and shorter. At one point of time, there would be no breath. At this point, the Ajnaa chakra opens. (Refer Lalitha Sahasra namam, where in, the explanation of charkas start with vishuddhi but not from Mooladhara.). It is followed by opening of lower charkas (Vishuddhi, Anaahatha, Manipura, Swaadhishthana, and Moolaadhaara). At this point of time, the self or Astral body struggles to come out of physical body. During this struggle, one may feel rotation of physical body (moving around by itself), sideward movements or up and down shakes. By continuous and enhanced periods of meditation, the Astral body comes out of physical body. The Astral body and physical body is connected with a chord called Silver Chord. Through this silver chord, back and forth communications between Astral and physical body takes place. When Astral body comes out of physical body, one feels that he is seeing himself sitting in a standstill posture (Observes the physical body). The Astral body is having the capacity to travel in the universe and in all planes as described in religious scriptures. There is no time bar or plane bar for the Astral body. During the travel, it gets various types of experiences, which cannot be explained in words. This stage is called enlightenment or realization of self. After attaining this stage, one knew or reminded of ones goal or purpose for taking birth on this holy planet. By continuing the meditation, the thousand petals Chakra (Sahasrara) opens up. Thousand here signifies innumerous but not thousand. Then the self becomes Brahma Jnaani and enjoys Brahmaanad. After fulfilling the goal, the self or Astral body transforms in to a bright light and travels back to the source and merges with it (The liberation). If mind dominates and does not allow the self to realize its goal, the person dies and the silver chord is detached from the physical body. The self moves or travels here and there until it gets rebirth. Thus falls in to the vicious circle of rebirth. It is with all sincere requests to all that one should start the meditation with full faith in it to extract the benefits as revealed by Holy Rishees. Further it is said women get enlightenment one third period of time that men takes. Why shall not women to start to derive the inherent advantage bestowed to them by Almighty? Q2. Is Etheric body the real body? I mean the soul. The Etheric body is the representation of complete 72,000 Naadis (Nodal points) with its network. This network is closely knitted in the physical body, covering the entire body like roots of a tree. The Soul, the Self or the Astral body is synonyms to each other. Guest guest
Shri Roopa ji, Please read the book "Many Lives & Many Masters" by Dr.Brian Weiss, This is written by a doctor (pschyologist) based on his real life experience with his patients. It explains our life as souls and purpose, it is a very good book, I read it and it really enlightens us. Guest guest
Shri KS Rao ji, Thank you for taking time to explain the intrinsic details of this meditation. I used to do this meditation just to relax myself for a few minutes, after knowing these minute details I understand how powerful it is. Thank you, Om namah shivaya, Divakar. --- KASTURI SUBBA RAO <kasturisrao wrote: > Sh. Divakar, > > Your questions are answered with best possible > manner limiting to my > ability and capacity. Guest guest
Dear Sri Divakar, > 2. Is Etheric body the real body? I mean the soul. Etheric body is the etheric double of the dense physical body. It is not a vehicle for our consciousness. It acts as a bridge between the physical and astral bodies. Beyond the astral body is the lower manas, the kama rupa. The four principles--physical, etheric, astral and lower mental--form the lower quartet of a man. Soul is associated with the triad of the higher principles Atma, Buddhi and Manas. They form the reincarnating ego of man. There is an interesting book titled "The Etheric Double: The Health Aura of Man" by Arthur E. Powell that can be downloaded from this Website: http://www.theosophical.ca/index.html Powell's compilations are the main source of reference in Theosophy. This book might be of special interest to you since you practice healing. I have given below an extract of this book from its first chapter that briefly explains the nature and functions of the etheric double. Regards, saidevo ----------------- >From the book "The Etheric Double" by A.E. Powell: ----------------- Every student of Occultism is familiar with the fact that man possesses several bodies or vehicles through which he is enabled to express himself on the various planes of nature – physical, astral, mental, and so forth. The occultist finds that physical matter exists in seven grades or orders of density, viz.: Atomic, Subatomic, Super-Etheric, Etheric, Gaseous, Liquid, Solid Particles of all these grades enter into the composition of the physical vehicle. The latter, however, has two well-marked divisions, viz., the dense body, composed of solids, liquids and gases, and the Etheric Body, or Double, as it is frequently called, consisting of the four finer grades of physical matter. It will be our purpose in these chapters to study this Etheric Double; its nature, appearance, functions, its relationships to the other vehicles, its connection with Prâna, or Vitality, its birth, growth and decay, its connection with certain methods of healing, with mesmerism, with mediumship and materialisations, the powers it can be made to exercise, and a host of miscellaneous etheric phenomena with which it is connected. Briefly, we shall find that the Etheric Double, while necessary to the life of the physical body, is not, properly speaking, a separate vehicle of consciousness: that it receives and distributes the vital force which emanates from the sun and is thus intimately connected with physical health: that it possesses certain Chakrams or Force-Centres of its own, each with its distinct function: that upon the action of etheric matter mainly depends the memory of the dream life: that it plays an important part in determining the kind of physical vehicle which an incarnating ego will receive: that, like the physical body, it dies and decays in due course, releasing the "soul" for the next stage in its cyclic journey: that it is especially associated with what is known as Vital or Magnetic Healing, and also with Mesmerism, whether for purposes of healing, anæsthesia, or trance: that it is the principal factor concerned in séance-room phenomena, such as the movement of objects, production of "raps" and other sounds, and materialisations of all kinds: that the development of etheric faculties confers new powers and reveals many etheric phenomena, which are beyond the experience of most men: that by the use of the matter of the etheric body objects may be "magnetised", much as living beings may be mesmerised: and, finally, that the etheric body provides the material out of which the substance known as ectoplasm is formed. The Etheric Double has been given a variety of names. In early Theosophical literature it was often called the astral body, the astral man, or the Linga Sharîra. In all later writings, however, none of these terms are ever applied to the Etheric Double, as they belong properly to the body composed of astral matter, the body of Kâma of the Hindus. In reading the Secret Doctrine, therefore, and other books of the older literature, the student must be on his guard not to confuse the two quite distinct bodies, known today as the Etheric Double and the Astral Body. The correct Hindu name for the Etheric Double is Prânamâyakosha, or vehicle of Prâna: in German it is known as the "Doppelgänger" : after death, when separated from the dense physical body, it is known as the "wraith", and has also been called the "phantom", "apparition", or "churchyard ghost". In Râja Yoga the Etheric Double and the dense body together are known as the Sthu~lopâdhi, or lowest Upâdhi of Âtmâ. Every solid, liquid and gaseous particle of the physical body is surrounded with an etheric envelope: hence the Etheric Double, as its name implies, is a perfect duplicate of the dense form. In size it projects about one quarter of an inch beyond the skin. The etheric aura, however, or health Aura as it is frequently called, projects normally several inches beyond the skin: this will be further described later. It is important to notice that the dense body and the Etheric Double vary together as to their quality: hence one who sets himself deliberately to purify his dense body, at the same time automatically refines its etheric counterpart. Into the composition of the Etheric Double must enter something of all the different grades of etheric matter, but the proportions may vary greatly, and are determined by several factors, such as the race, sub-race, and the type of man, as well as by his individual karma. In appearance the Etheric Double is a pale violet-grey or blue-grey, faintly luminous, and coarse or fine in texture according as the dense physical body is coarse or fine. The Etheric Double has two main functions. Firstly, it absorbs Prâna, or Vitality, and distributes this to the whole body, as we shall see in detail presently. Secondly, it acts as an intermediary or bridge between the dense physical body and the astral body, transmitting the consciousness of physical sense-contacts through the etheric brain to the astral body, and also transmitting consciousness from the astral and higher levels down into the physical brain and nervous system. ----------------- , Divakara Tanjore <div_tan> wrote: > > Sh KS Rao, > > Great Explanation, very enlightening, Thank you. > > it raised a few more questions and please explain when > you find time. > > 1.
