Guest guest
Respected Shri. Arjunaji, With reference to our recent correspondence, I am sending herewith total three images of two beautiful Valampuri Conch of my personal collection. The first two images are of a conch weighing 270 gms. the other single image is of a conch weighing 440 gms. The Valampuri Conch is also known as 'Dakshinavarty Shank', 'Lakshmi Conch', Mahalakshmi Conch', 'Jamuna Conch' and 'Lakshmi -Vishnu Conch' Few people also call this type of conch as 'Panchajanya Conch' when it shows the presence of five vertical ridges or 'pilae' in a conch cavity. The normal left handed conch is not called as 'Dakshinavarty Shank'. Thanking you and with personal regards, Chandrashekhar Phadke for Good Click here to donate to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort.
