Guest guest
I have a question about doing shiva linga abishekam on Mondays. We have a very small brown/gold glass shiva lingam at home. Once during shiva/gowri nombu pooja (the one celebrated the day after deepavalli) the shiva lingam fell from the top part of the pooja cupboard into the nombu bowl. So since then every year we put the shiva lingam in the nombu bowl asd part of the pooja. Recently i started doing the 10 somvar vrath and i started doing abishekam on Mondays for that shiva lingam. However i read somwhere that you should only do abishekam on certain type of shiva lingam stones and doing it on a shivalingam made of solid glass will not be very benificial. I went to the shop to get a new shiva lingam but i thought i have already started with this one and it doesnt feel right to change half way throyugh the viratham. So my question basically is is it okay to continue the way im doing so? My second question is i have some shiva mantras which i read after the abishekam....some people have told me when doing the abishekam to read certain mantras but i cant seem to concentrate doing both so when im doing the abishekam i just say "on namah shivaya" mantra. Is this okay? Also does anyone know any specific mantras to read on Mondays when doing the somvar fast?
Guest guest
Anitha - Most important is what YOU BELIEVE!! What makes your prayer a great experience!! Go by your child heart!! By this I mean what we liked as child have greater impact on what we do. There are rules and conditions written in differnt sacred books to serve as guidelines. I somehow liked 'Vishnu on the Seshasayana' extremely well. To my intellect, I know Vishnu and Shiva are finally the same GOD. But I can focus more on the murthy of VISHNU. My prayer is more intensive on Vishnu. Similarly I like chanting the mantra 'om namah sivaya' and it releases lot of energy in me. I am sorry, I have not answered any of your questions. Just wanted to share a different perspective. Regards. , "anitha_764" <anitha_764> wrote: > I have a question about doing shiva linga abishekam on Mondays. Neeta
Dear Friend, If u put your devotion and love for shiva even into a stone he will be there....So most important is your faith. Continue to Worship the one which you already started. Om Namaha Shivaya is the very powerful Mantra and if you chant mantra with faith and devotion god is already residing there...Apart from Om Namaha Shivaya if you want to chant other Mantra you can chant Mahamritunjaya mantra...or anyother mantra for Lorshiva...Remember Whatever you do with Faith and devotion will only give positive result...it doesnt matter which mantra......
