Lalethaa jee,

As desired the details for Pradosha Pooja is appended below.

Brief History: Sura and Sura Churned the the Ocean of milk

using "Mandar Parvat" (Mandhara Mountain) as churning rod and The

great king of Snakes, "Vaasuki" as rope. So many things generated one

after the other. Such as Kalpa Vriksha, Laksmi, Kaamdhenu, e.t.c.

Due to the continuous abrasion of "Vasuki's" body the great amount of

Poison was liberated. All Devatas refused to accept the poison and

uproar aroused. At that juncture "Goddess Parvati" assured them that

the poison would be swallowed by Lord Shiva. Lord shiva on Goddess

Parvati's appeal swallowed poison and kept it in the larynx area and

had not allowed to enter the stomach. Due to this poison Lord Shiva's

neck was burned to blue and there after he is known as "Garal Kanth"

or "Neel Khant" and Goddess Parvathi is is known as "Sarva Mangala"

(Due to her confidence on her Mangal sutra, which can give long life

to her companion)

Suras and Asuras continued the churning and on Dwadasi day (12th day

of the fortnight) they got Amrit (The Nectar) and danced with joy.

They neglected to thank Lord Shiva in their joy. Later they realized

their mistake and praised the Lord on the next day, Trayodasi day

(Thirteenth day of the fortnight) Shiva being Ashutosh, absolved their

blunder and danced (Ananda Nritya) between the two horns of "Nandi"

and blessed the Suras and Asuras. The name "Pradosha" popularised

Since Lord Shiva assured all that their Sins shall be washed off by

worshiping him at that time.

It has become a ritual to worship Lord shiva with "panchakshari

Mantra" in Pradosh kaal, just before the Sunset. It is believed that

all Suras or Devas visit temples of Lord Shiva on this day at Pradosh

kaal to pay their homages to the Lord. Pradosha falls on thirteenth

day after full moon or new moon day. Pradosh kaal (Time) is

considered between 1630 hrs to 1800 hrs of that day.

It is believed that Lord Shiva shall be worshipped by "Abhishek"

(Bath) with energized Water, Panchamrit etc. During that time the

meditator shall chant the "Panchakshari Mantra". After Pooja is

finished one should make Parikram (Circumambulate) around the temple.

This particular parikram is called "Soma Sutra Parikram"

or "pradakshin"

Let Lord Shiva Blesses all of us,
