Guest guest
"Tamsoma Jyotirgmaya, Mrityorma Amritangamaya" Dear Jamnan Das, Anger is the root cause for frustration. Anger generates out of frustration. I would like to narrate an incident before I share a thought on concentration. An aged gentleman is having a grown up daughter. Daughter started coming late to home. He warned her not to come home late. She replied that she was doing a combined study for the ensuing exams and requested him to bear with her for some time to go. After a few days, father again expressed the anger on her for continuing her late coming home. Daughter replied "dad, you are my father, and you know my habits, I never do any mischievous things. It is only the combined study which is making me late". Father kept quite. After some days passed by, father was got angry and severely warned her to stop coming late at once. Out of fit of anger he abused her. Here is the question, though he is aware of his daughter, why he got angry? It is the anxiety that prevailed in him. He started thinking that her late coming would certainly bring a blemish to the family. It may be discussed badly by the neighbors. The very anxiety soon turned to anger. When anger triumphs, it will drive away the reasoning and logic from ones mind and provides place for anger. When a desire or a wish is not fulfilled, it gives room for exasperation resulting anger. Upanishads have given a way for maintaining concentration. It says ones mind is like a crow sitting on the mast of a ship. The ship started drifting in to the water without the knowledge of the crow. When ship drifted far away from the shore, the crow due to its inherent action wished to fly around. It started flying in the air. Since it has no place to perch, it has returned to the mast. Ones mind is compared to the crow. One need not try to control the thoughts. When thoughts are controlled more and more thoughts would getting generated and suddenly one realizes that ones mind is already slither away from the aim. Hence it is advised to allow the mind to think in its way by continuing the meditation without caring for the thoughts. Like the crow the mind has to come back to the concentration. It is believed that in the beginning the state of mind is separate (Aham) from the Almighty (Param). At this stage the mind is said to be in "Dwaita" (Duel). Gradually one is immersed and lost ones identity and reaches "Turiya Avastha" (Beyond the stage of Shushupti). At this stage mind is united with Almighty (Adwaita). This may say a while or hours and days together. Even if it losts for a second it is enough and one gets "Brahmananda" (The eternal happiness or Joy) Though I am not having any authority to advice, I am sharing a thought what I heard it in a religious discourse. Please take its advantage by adopting it. Guest guest
Hello Mr. Rao, I am very thankful to you and other list members for there response and suggestions. It was a long weekend here so lookibng at this gorup after 3 days and at a glimpse, I see so many suggestions and help on my problem. I will definitely take your suggestion into consideration. What you have mentioned here is very true, the more I try to keep thoughts out of my mind, the more my mind drifts aways from what I am trying to concentrate on. Your suggestions come from the Upanishads. I am still in the very early chapters of Siva-Puran. Doen't really know when I will ever read Upanishads, but you read it and share some knowledge, and I thank you.
