Guest guest Posted September 2, 2005 Report Share Posted September 2, 2005 Hello, I am a devotee of shiva as well, my problem though is that whenever I sit to do my sadhana, I am not able to do 1 very important and basic thing...maintain concentration. I never realise when my mind has drifted to other thoughts. I have no control over it and eventually, when I complete my sadhana, I feel very unsatisfied and extremely angry at myself, and very dis-spirited as well. I do not know what to do! Even I went through this phase for years. For a week or so, try to focus on your breath, sit in a comfortable position ( you can have backrest if needed) and focus on the tip of your nose on the inhalation and exhalation. Do not breath forcefully let the breath go normally, once you get control on this slowly imagine Lord Shiva, you will slowly get this, it will take a lot of time, dont lose patience, there is no short cut to this. Also Shiva bhakti is not only sadhana, you can impress god by doing good deeds like charity, being truthful, honest and living rightously these things will lead to sadhana, I am telling all this based on my example. Even thinking is meditation as mentioned by NamaSivam, so keep thinking about lord shiva, you will attain focus and concentration. Guest guest Posted September 6, 2005 Report Share Posted September 6, 2005 Hi Jamnadas, nearly 20 years, that is because I was not very serious earlier, I was on and off of it , since you are very serious now you can achieve your focus and concentration soon, but believe me try the breathing exercise I told you, it will really help you to relax and focus your mind, the more relaxed you are the more focussed you will get. you can also try gayatri mantra, all the mantras have power to improve our energy levels, they work on our chakras and synchronize their energies and open up our souls for spiritual bliss which will lead to focus and concentration. but as I suggested you have to believe in love, compassion and giving charity that is the only way to get spiritual. if you know this you will get a grip on what you do.
