Guest guest
Sh.Panimalar, With all reverence and regards to Sh. Shreeram Balijepalli, the possible answer to the query raised by you is enumerated in the following paragraphs. Lord Shiva is the regulator of all negative forces and always purifies the "Aatman" (The soul). Since he is absorbing all negative powers from his disciples, he is always found in Dhyana (Deep Meditation). It is believed that putting a lighted lamp before him may disturb his meditation thereby some of his disciple may not get the advantage of his deep meditation. So the Vedic scholars recommended placing the JYOYI (Lighted Lamp) behind "LINGA". As per Sh. Shree Ram ji, this feature was experimented and found yielding superior results. It is important to note that Shiva is often worshipped in the form of "LINGA". Some school of thought advocates that it is equivalent to "Nirgun Aaradhan" (An antonym to idol worship). As Sh. Shreeram Balijepalli, explained, the Jyoti shall be placed behind the "LINGA" to dispose of all miseries and troubles. Keeping "Jyoti" behind "LINGA" also relieves one from the effects of "Sade Sathi" (Seven and half years period of SATURN effect). This is becase of the fact, as explained above Lord Shiva has the power of Controlling the effects of "Saturn" too. As regards to your second query, "LINGA" is not purchased from market except for the places of public worship. It shall be given by Guru or an elderly person. "LINGA" may be in the form of metal or earthen/ precious stone or Crystal. Most powerful one is one that is made of Emerald (Green colored precious stone), next comes "SPATIKA" or Crystal, then Gold, Silver, "Pancha Dhatu" (Alloy of five metals), Brass and so on. Some of the Vedic scholars are of the opinion that "Shree Chakra" (Hemi Spherical in shape but not the one in Cone shape) can be worshipped as "LINGA". If you do not have "LINGA" at your house, you may visit a temple for performing the ritual as advised. Lord Shiva group wish you "All the best".
