Guest guest
Dear David Wells, Your query will be answered if you read the Madhukosha commentary on Madhava Nidan. I beleive an English translation of Madhav Nidan atleast is available. While the Samprapti of Indralupta and Khalitya (or Khalati, they can be assumed to be the same) is the same Indralupta is loss of hair over a particular area while khalitya refers to baldness which is gradual loss of hair of the head. Indralupta in the region of the head shows up as a patch of hair loss generally the size of a coin. In the Madhujosha commentary it is mentioned that Indralupta occurs in the region of the head and moustache or beard, Khalitya in the region of the head while ruhya (not rujya) can occur anywhere on the body. Based on this some vaidyas consider Khalitya to be Simple alopecia, Ruhya to be Alopecia Universalis and Indralupta to be Alopecia Areata. Cybervaidya.
