Hello Cybervaidya:
While we await any answers

regarding post 105, I'm proceeding experimentally.
In

the absence of materia medica ratios for Arjuna and

Triphala extractions, I have chosen to use a common,

general/standard ratio of 1:8 @ 70% alcohol. Thus, for each Oz. of

plant matter used, 8 oz of solvent is used--70% wine

spirit and 30% rain water. After this extraction, the

residue will be incinerated and the water soluable salts

leached out, evaporated and crystalized, and finally

disolved back into the tincture.
I'm presently taking

the Triphala as a decoction in water, as a rasayana,

and will compare results between the decoction versus

the liquor.
From an Ayurvedic view, I think some

people might argue that the alcohol extraction increases

Pitta. To change this, we could consider using different

alcohols. For example, it is generally said that plants

growing closer to the ground produce a cooler alcohol or

vinegar. Also, white vs. red grapes changes effects.

Another example, vinegar from grapes is considered hotter

than rice wine vinegar, as the rice is close to water

and the soil. Any thoughts?
