Hi, I did a search in the messages and couldn't find any info, so sorry

in advance if this question has already been posted.

my husband takes Lipitor and genfibrisol (sp?) for high cholesterol.

he's been taking them for about 5 years (he's 28)

Is it possible to take an ayurvedic medicine such as guggulu? and would

he start this while taking the other meds? or stop the others (which

his doc said not to do) and start something ayurvedic? I would just

like to find him a natural solution to lowering his cholesterol.

thanks

Hi,

Definitely , you may get solution for your hubbys problem of

cholestrol in ayurveda. But you have to take the treatment from the highly

qulified ayurvedic doctor. You may contact your doctor for treatment plan, diet

plan, excercise for the problem.

You can start following treatment under doctors observation

a) Mahayograj Guggul 2 tabs with warm water two times daily

b) Arogyavardhini 2 tabs with warm water two times daily

fresh one glass water + 2 tab spoon honey daily with moring empty stomach.

Diet : avoid fast food, cold drinks, beer, spicy food .

excersize: Anulom-Vilom Pranayam 5-7 mins, walking.

Thanks.

Prof Hingmire has suggested some pharmacy medicine already to you. Some

Indian pharmacies add Kajjali (made from mercury and sulphur) to

Aarogyavardhini Ras. This you should know in advance, later on do not

get shocked by adverse propoganda on net and in media on mercury issue.

Our group has a large number of postings on colesterol issue. Todd has

done quite a serious research and believs that cholesterol is a

marketing niche word for drug giants rather than a health issue. Please

You will discover different opinions of esteemed group members, Serious

side effects of statins and lipitors may be found in these messages.

The experience of one member in reducing cholesterol using ayurvedic

strategy (guggulu) is also recorded in one message in above list.

On the other hand, simple home remedy is suggested by Dr

Vaibhav Mehta at:

http://health.ayurveda/messages/3258

This is a suggestion coming from nothing less than a university for specialised

ayurvedic education in Pune, city considered as Homeland of Godess Saraswati,

the Godess of education.

One more home remedy coming from elderlies:

Take 1 tsp fenugreek seeds, soak them in 1 cup (75 ml) water at bed

time. Next morning, throw away fenugreek seeds and drink water alone

first thing in morning. Give 30-45 minutes gap before eating anything

else. This remedy will have "heavy metals" contained in the water you

use as well as those in the soil where fenugreek was harvested.

Despite your research, if you wish to continue present medication, you need to

keep a gap of one hour between allopathic medication and ayurvedic medicines or

"home remedies", to avoid possible interaction.

If discontinuation of allopathic medication is decided, better do it with

consultaion with your present healer, since many heart medicines are "addictive"

and may cause highly undesirable outcomes if stopped suddenly. There has been

some research in literature and info on drug databases on discontinuation effect

of anti-hypertensives too.

Hi, thank you for your replies. It seems the best solution is to see

a qualified doctor. We are in Connecticut, does anyone know of an

ayurvedic doctor nearby?

thank you again

Dear tracey

High Cholestrol is really bad for our body. I will sugest you to go

for herbal ayurvedic treatment from some ancient irm like Navjivan

(navj.com) or from kerala ayurveda.
