BANGALORE: Scion of Mysore Royal Family Srikantadatta Narasimharaja

Wadiyar has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ayurvedic

Charitable Hospital and Ayurvedic Company of Great Britain (ACGB) to set up the

Royal Institute of Ayurveda in Bangalore. Speaking to reporters here on

Monday, Mr. Wadiyar said the institute was conceived as an approach to conserve

India's rich heritage in Ayurveda and to protect its intellectual property

rights. The ACGB, headed by G.K. Warriar, set up the charitable hospital in

London in 2000 and now it is eager to spread the wealth of Ayurveda all over the

world, he said. Mr. Wadiyar said the Institute, in addition to training

Ayurvedic graduates, will offer an examination for membership for all qualified

Ayurvedic doctors to practice to the highest standard at international level.

Those qualified could affix MRIA (Member of Royal Institute of Ayurveda) to

their name, he said. The institute will be inaugurated in April this

year, he added. © Copyright 2000 - 2006 The Hindu
