Guest guest Posted December 22, 2005 Report Share Posted December 22, 2005 Folk medicine award presented to Bijapur doctor Thursday December 22 2005 10:19 IST UDUPI: ‘Janapada Vaidyakeeya Samshodhana Kendra’ (Folk Medicine Research Centre) of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Ayurveda, Kuthpadi-Udupi, presented ‘Janapada Vaidya Siri’ award to Vaidya Bheemaraya Ramanna Ingale from Salotagi, Indi, in Bijapur district, for his contribution to rural health. Former principal and professor of zoology, Poorna Prajna College, Udupi, Prof M Sudhakar Rao presented the award to Ingale. Ingale called upon budding ayurveda practitioners to treat their patients as their parents. “A doctor should not become rich by virtue of money or his attire, but by his treatment qualities. Once he speaks to a patient, half of the illness of his patient must be treated. Such should be your power of diagnosis,” he said. He said use packaged food and water led to diseases like high BP or sugar.
