December 2005 Monthly Vedic Horoscope

 

General

 

We're still under the rather nasty Mars-Saturn square (with the nodes thrown

in for good measure) for a little while longer, so keep holding your breath and

hopefully we can all come up for air soon enough. That first moment of

relief may come on the 20th when Saturn leaves Ashlesha, the nakshatra

associated with such charming things as poisons, deceit, and serpents, and

enters Pushya, which is linked to religion, orthodoxy, and tradition. Overall,

a trade worth making.

 

There's actually a lot going on in the sky this month, including three

planetary stations involving all three of the inner terrestial planets.

Mercury returns to direct motion on the 4th in the first degree of Scorpio --

not a good time to request your FBI dossier I should think. Mars concludes its

ravenous retrograde transit of Aries on the 10th by stationing in a spot that

puts it dangerously close to an aspect from Pluto. A good time to stay out of

unknown neighbourhoods and large corporate meetings. Venus joins the party as

it turns retrograde on the 24th, just in time for Santa, Rudolf, and company.

And it does so while in a close conjunction with Chiron, so let's hope that

represents a universalizing of the love impulse. Just in time, with all that

Grinch-like Mars-Saturn suffering going on.

 

 

ARIES (Apr 13 - May 13) December should be well above par for you.

Career matters in particular go well as the world sees the breadth of your

talents. With your ruling planet Mars stationing in Bharani on the 10th,

expect for some intensity in life then as you are more in demand. You will

feel a return to optimism and expansion now possibly as a result of encounters

with learned teachers or other pillars of the community. Later in the month,

there may be a return to practical matters as responsibilities come back into

the picture.

 

TAURUS (May 14 - Jun 14) Since tour ruling planet Venus stations on the

24th in Uttarashada, this is a perfect time to pursue intellectual interests,

especially those concerned religion and philosophy. Not a bad fit, since it's

the holiday season. There is also a flavour of introspection here, so time

spent alone or in places of worship will promote inner peace and enlightenment.

Handel's Messiah never sounded so good. A surprising string of good news and

improved communication may come your way in the first two weeks of the month.

 

GEMINI (Jun 15 - Jul 15) Mercury stations in Vishaka on the 4th, so this

early part of the month may see you confronting your foes, both real and

imaginary. There's a heavy emphasis here on resolution of stuff that has been

on the table for a while. Expect some resistance here from friends as not all

may share your perspectives on matters of collective interest. No worries

though as help and advice comes from unexpected places at the 11th hour. A

workplace situation may compel some quick-thinking on your part around the

20th.

 

CANCER (Jul 16 - Aug 15) Romantic and marital matters will take up more

of your thoughts this month as Venus transits and stations your 7th house.

Look for obligations towards loved ones to play a key role at this time, as

things may pop up suddenly that demand your attention. The early part of

December is likely to be the smoothest and most enjoyable time, and will likely

involve children in some way. On the 18th, you will experience the the full

cycle of love and its attendant kaleidoscope of emotions.

 

LEO (Aug 16 - Sep 15) With Venus transiting Uttarashada this month, you

will likely find yourself crossing paths with strong, independent women this

month. These may often be linked to the healing or helping professions. There

will also be a focus on traditions and the less fortunate now -- not

surprising since it's Christmas perhaps -- and you may feel like participating

in those rituals more than in the past. The creativity of siblings will shine

now, especially around the 24th.

 

VIRGO (Sep 16 - Oct 16) You will have lots of energy for starting new

projects and getting the word the out this month as Mercury transits Scorpio

and Vishaka. The first half of the month is a great time for promoting

yourself, even if the results may have to wait. As always, the best sales

approach is to empathize with a prospective client and focus on what service

you can do for them without regard for gain. The second half of the month may

see you in research mode, as you become a seeker of mysteries. Take along a

flashlight, especially around the 20th.

 

LIBRA (Oct 17 - Nov 15) Some good cheer is definitely in store for you

this holiday season as Venus stations in your 4th house symbolizing contentment

and domestic happiness. This will be a good time to play host and invite

family and friends over to share in the warmth of your happy house. The

influence of Uttarashada may be felt through the need for you to dispense some

sage advice to loved ones who need a shoulder to cry on. If the conversation

over Christmas dinner gets overheated, however, you may be called upon to step

in.

 

SCORPIO (Nov 16 - Dec 14) As Mars stations on the 10th in Bharani, you

will likely find yourself in situations that feature differences of opinion,

particularly those involving women who are foreign or hidden from the

mainstream in some way. While it will be nearly impossible to resist the urge

to side with one side over another, take care not to succumb to righteous

indignation. You may be called upon to use your decision-making skills in a

leadership role, especially around the 16th. Have no fear -- defeat is not a

possibility.

 

SAGITTARIUS (Dec 15 - Jan 13) Money issues may be at the forefront of you

mind this month as Jupiter and its dispositor occupy the money houses in the

horoscope. You will probably be spending more that you expected (even more

now that's it Christmas) and this could cause some ruffled feathers on the

homefront. Since Jupiter is transiting Swati for much of December, this is an

excellent time for immersing yourself in spiritual or charitable work. With

Mars loitering outside the door, however, expect the pace to be anything but

leisurely. Make sure you take some downtime for yourself and the people around

you. The 21st of the month may bring good news from beyond.

 

CAPRICORN (Jan 14 - Feb 12) As Saturn moves backwards this month, it

will pass from Ashlesha to Pushyami on the 20th. This will represent a shift

in your orientation from material gains to relationships. In general money

matters will go well indeed for the first two weeks as you are boosted from

spiritual pursuits and connections at a distance. This may be a higher energy

and stressful Yuletide season than you're used to so a little caution is in

order when it comes to indulging. You will have to face up to the paradox of

working hard at relaxing.

 

AQUARIUS (Feb 13 - March 13) Saturn's movement from Ashlesha to Pushyami

this month on the 20th means that you will shift from work mode to helping and

serving mode just in time for the holidays. Sometimes the stars have it all

right. To start the month, your attention will be focused on work and gaining

recognition for your efforts. This should be a time of great energy and

success for you as long as you keep your eye on the ball (squint if you have

to). After the 20th, your energies will be better focused on serving others to

ensure their comfort and happiness, even if the audience isn't entirely

appreciative.

 

PISCES (March 14 - Apr 12) There is a real prospect of unexpected gains

this month, especially in the latter half. This is probably going to be a

very active and and possibly stressful time for you. One good way to cope is

not to fall prey to questioning your self-worth. Lack of self confidence will

work against you in trying times. Start from a position of inner strength and

you can withstand anything. Jupiter transits Swati this month and this often

indicates a time of spiritual retreat or introspection. There is also a

connection with wind here so make sure you're not caught out in a snowstorm.
