Guest guest Posted November 25, 2005 Report Share Posted November 25, 2005 PRESS RELEASE We are pleased to inform you that the Royal Institute of Ayurveda has been established as an international association between the educational programmes of the Maharaja of Mysore and The Ayurvedic Company of Great Britain. It is hoped that Mr. Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minster of India, will inaugurate the institute on the 14th of January, 2006. It has been felt by the Ayurvedic community across the world that the time for such an institution is now overdue in order to protect the intellectual property, authenticity of the knowledge, practice and philosophy of the ancient Indian tradition of Ayurveda. In this joint venture between the Maharaja of Mysore and ACGB, both partners share these objectives as well as the protection of the interests of the Indian Ayurvedic community across the world. The Royal families of Mysore and Kerala have always been at the forefront of the Ayurvedic tradition and its practice and protection for many centuries. The objectives of the Institution are as follows: • To provide continuing education and training for Ayurvedic students and graduates from India and abroad. • To conduct lectures and seminars for the general public, Ayurveda and herbal experts and the Western medical community. • To provide treatment and therapies for both residential and out-patients. • To act as a conduit for information exchange and research projects between Western and Indian medical institutions. • To develop and carry out new research projects on efficacy and toxicity of Ayurvedic medicine and treatment and to publish the findings in international journals. • To protect the intellectual property of Ayurveda and its Indian roots. • To generate a nationwide move in India to inculcate the knowledge and practice of Ayurveda in rural and urban communities in cooperation with The Agastya Foundation and other Indian agencies. • Professional members of the Royal Institute of Ayurveda can carry the post nominal le�ers MRIA (Member of the Royal Institute of Ayurveda). Professional members will be subject to an examination conducted in centres in India and London for all university graduates of Ayurveda (BAMS, BSc, BA degree holders). MD degree holders in Ayurveda from any recognised university are eligible for membership without an examination. The Institute will also serve as the academic and professional Institute for Ayurvedic graduates from all over the world to share ideas and concerns for the future development of Ayurveda across the world and for their Continuing Professional Development.(CPD) The training of first batch of graduates from Europe and UK will begin in January 2006. On the January 16th, a�er the inauguration at the palace, a poetry and dance performance will be held at The Agastya Foundation at Kuppam – the ecological park connected with ACGB and the Royal Institute of Ayurveda.
