Dear Mahima:

A good book to read is Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda.

Basic techniques include mantra, pranayama and inquiry.

The specific techniques are learned by initiation through a qualified and

authorized teacher.

My teacher is Roy Eugene Davis, who is a disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda.

He has ordained ministers throughout the world to teach and give the

initiation.

You can write and ask for information on a location of an authorized teacher.

_www.csa-davis.org_ (http://www.csa-davis.org)

A good book by Mr. Davis to read is "The Science of Self-Realization: A Guide to

Spiritual Practice in the Kriya Yoga Tradition."

Also, you may want to read the Yoga Sutras.

The second chapter specifies what Kriya Yoga practice includes.

Mr. Davis offers seminars and advises his ministers to share Kriya with sincere

seekers.

Hope this helps.

Does anyone know

where to find description?

Is it given only by initiation?

I found a website that propose seminars to learn it or ask donation for giving

it.

Then?

Thanks

Mahima

Dear Mahima,

Namaskar

As you have asked about Kriya yoga.

According to our scriptures Maharshi Patanjali explained it very beautifully in

such a way-

"Tapa Swadhayaya Ishwarpranidhanaha Kriyayoga"

It means that there are three steps of Kriya yoga, first

tapa,it means to bear the shades of happiness and sorrow equally in life. If you

face sukh-dukh,(happiness-sorrow),profit and loss,yash and apyash(fame or

defamation) you should have equal vision in life.

Swadhyaya,it means one should do self study of Divine books

because it enlights your path and you become of your trueself then you can delve

deep to know your trueself.

Ishwarpranidhan,it means when your inner would be light naturally you would

surrender to Lord and recite His name pure heartedly.

When an individual does these acts he realizes his trueself.

As you have asked about donations and other things.

In that connection i have to tell you our country's a few great saints developed

kriya yoga in form of a package in which some mudras, asanas and dhyana

techniques are included and initiation is given to sadhak for spiritual

development.

First of all during the British time Lahari Maha Saya

ji of Varanasi, disciple of Mahaavtar Baba ji started

its spreading later on His disciple Yukteshwar Giri ji

did it later on His Disciple Sri Sri ParamhansYoganand

ji went to America and started spreading it. So you

can get so many Yogda satsang societies where you can

learn it.You can search it on website of Sri Sri

ParamhansYoganand ji.

Here i have to tell you, spiritual journey starts

with Divine blessing and with whom your previous

sadhana and karmas are connected, you would go there.

You know it is Divine track where an individual surrenders and flows like holy

Ganga to purify others.

It is such a journey where an individual keeps first step in his/her self and

find its trueself then Divine fragrance spreads

everywhere.

Today it is difficult to find a selfless Divine soul where

you can surrender. If you are really a spiritual seeker

and in search of Divine knowledge then can tell you of

such a group where selfless souls spread selfless service for

Divine creation.

With Regards,

Teji

Mahima,

Kriya yoga is the technique taught by deciples of Shri Yogananda.

It is only through initiation.

One such group is based in Banglore with the name 'Babaji's Kriya Yoga'. You can

visit their site at www.babaji.ca

Dear Mahima -

There are many "varieties" of Kriya yoga and often what you find these

days are lessons on certain types of pranyama and meditation. Some

will claim to "initiate" you for a fee. Then there is the SRF,

founded by Yogananda. I don't have any first-hand experience with the

SRF, but I do know from hearing from others that they think it has

turned into somewhat of a cult. The current leadership there has been

accused of altering much of Yoganada's writings, etc. I don't want to

dwell on that, but just be aware that not all is well in certain

groups. In the yoga sutras of Patanjali, a description is given

starting in sutra 2.1 on kriya yoga. It includes training of the

mind, something which many organizatons today leave out. You can find

alot of good information on the sutras from the website www.swamij.com

regarding this. I have been fiddling with kriya yoga for a couple of

years now and wish I would have found this site in the beginning.

Best wishes,

Melissa
