Guest guest
there is no regulation of ayurveda in the US or Canada - anyone can practice ayurveda or what they think is ayurveda if you meet an insurance company's criteria for a CAM practitioner it is now possible to obtain malpractice insurance in many locales, which offers some protection to the practitioner (esp. in the litigious USofA) regarding who is qualified to speak with authority i strenuously object to the idea that only "licensed" BAMS or MD (ayu) are qualified to speak on the subject of ayurveda for example, there are many classically trained vaidyas all over india and nepal that have never seen the inside of an ayurvedic college, and have have far more experience and knowledge than most ayurvedic physicians would ever dream of it is important to realize that licensing exists to serve the entitlements of a profession, not to protect the public it is essentially a political and economic maneuver, to limit the impact of competing interests if licensing existed to protect the public then licensed physician-prescribed drugs in the United States would not kill more than 120,000 people annually (and that's just in hospitals, for starters...) best... todd caldecott On 19-Oct-05, at 6:01 AM, ayurveda wrote: > of Dr. Frawley and Dr. Lad are doing tremendous work in the field of > spreading ayurveda awareness I do not think the training they offer > is bachelor level training. Guest guest
I am a physician assistant in NYC practicing for 12 years...I am also a student of the new Kripalu School Of Ayurveda, Lenox, MA. I agree with your email about "regarding who is qualified to speak with authority i strenuously object to the idea that only "licensed" BAMS or MD (ayu) are qualified to speak on the subject of ayurveda". I hate all the structure in the USA and there are so many facets to Ayurveda, that thank GOD there is no licensing at this point. Even though I think we need it for protection.
