Dear Durgeshji,

Namaste. May we have a list of all the "good articles" you have posted on this

list please?

Ayurveda not only deals with disease but also prevention. A vaidya's duty is to

point out harmful substances, objects or procedures that can harm an individual.

I think many of my articles fall under this category. I have also tried to

educate the lay members of the list about holistic principles as opposed to

reductionism. I have also discussed advances in science that corraborate the

findings of our acharyas. I have never offered advice on cure, nor have I dealt

with ayurvedic concepts posing to be an expert, rather I have helped list

members off list in their search for good vaidyas and books. I have been very

respectful to the vaidyas on this list, even those who have opposed me on some

issues. I fully understand that I have got plenty to learn and I realise that I

make mistakes, all of which I have openly admitted. Now where have I gone wrong?

Is being proud of my motherland's heritage a sin? Is popularising the concepts

of ayurveda, naturopathy, yoga and other alternate

therapies on various forums a sin? Is reporting the current popularity of

alternate therapies a sin? Is reporting the activities of yoga experts,

naturopaths and alternative therapy backers a sin? Can the lay person not even

read ayurveda or discuss it if he does not have a licence? I fail to understand

your logic.

As for your comments on me, I will let them pass. I have accepted you as an

elder brother and therefore I will have to just grin and bear it. Jyastha bhrata

is after all Pita sama. I have nothing against you but please allow us to

discuss subjects of health and wellness. Today the whole world is facing a

tremendous crisis, the health of the entire earth system is at risk. Prevalent

methods have not only failed but also contributed towards this. As citizen of

the world we have every right to discuss "unconventional" traditional approaches

now, approaches that have helped us survive for millions of years without

destroying the earth and its inhabitants in the process. Approaches for which

licences are purposely not awarded despite their efficacy just because a

particular method wants to bully others and retain its monopoly, greedy for

lucre, for power, for position, name & fame.

A recent medical report now points out that we urgently need to be vaccinated

for at least 75 viruses because no other cure is in sight, though it

acknowledges that vaccines may be harmful and that there are legal issues

hovering over the vaccine industry. What madness!! In my next post I will raise

the issue of whether viruses are at all responsible for our illnesses.

Nature is already showing her wrath. Let us learn before we are wiped out.

I am not a loud mouth nor an upstart. I fully understand my limitations. My only

vow is to help as many people as I can before my own time runs out. I cannot sit

and watch if a wrong thought process is allowed to sully holistic concepts just

because it has the backings of a so called "science". Science should help,

preserve and maintain not kill. Science should evolve a medical system that is

available to each and everyone and not just to a select few. Unfortunately

medical science has today become a Frankestein (a fact divulged to the UN

Assembly and WHO experts by Revered Swami Jitatmananda, Trustee of the

Ramakrishna Order, while pointing out the dangers of genetic manipulations) that

cannot be controlled anymore. The Revered Swami points out that meddling with

nature can have very serious repurcussions. Should we encourage such a science?

As Tim Bolen, internationally reputed consumer health advocate and legal expert

points out, "Faced with a choice between modern medicine and health, I will

anyday go in for good health." This is the prevailing mood today and nobody can

wish it away. Today's medical science is not an advancement, it is a tremendous

mistake. I have realised this by paying for it with my health. Need the valued

members of this list face similiar horrors?

Modern medicine is too deeply entrenched to be uprooted. However alternate

therapies should be freely available to those who opt for it. Knowledge about

alternate therapies and the principles behind them should be spread to all so

that every person can make an intelligent choice. Health freedom should be

encouraged and not health slavery. Let the people decide, who are the so called

medical experts to decide what approach we should adopt? Why should certain

medical procedures be made mandatory? Will they face the consequences when

things go wrong? Rather they will offer excuses, say sorry and walk away leaving

us to our fate. And then we have to trudge to alternate healers burdening them

with our irreparably damaged bodies and expecting them to cure us in a jiffy.

Why not make the smart choice at the very onset. Why not be the custodians of

our own health by educating ourselves and the coming generations?

Shariram khalu dharmasadhanam, the body is a vehicle to be used to practice

dharma, is the clear message of our ancestors. Unfortunately we have left the

care of our bodies to a set of people who know only adharma and negate the

existence of God. They defile our bodies, make it impure and thus cut us off

from our rightful heritage, the awareness of the presence of God within us. We

are free souls, amritasya putra, children of God. We need not be slaves to any

system that treats God as a superstition.

Regards,

Jagannath.

I admire you for keeping your cool and writing this fantastic article. As a

librarian of a research institute I too do my reading on alternate therapies.

Very few can deliver the message with such clarity and feeling as you.

May Lord Narayana bless you. May you be healed and continue your good work.
