Respected Vaidyas,

If such short term courses are available outside India and the students

are allowed to practice on the strength of their certificates then why

are students not allowed the same facility in India?

Such short term courses would benefit those who are past their prime

and also those who wish to know more about the science after being

benefitted by ayurveda. To protect the interests of the practicing

doctors, the short course student could be given a non

practicing "awareness" certificate. This has the benefit of allowing a

person to gain enough knowledge to heal himself and his family from

common ailments.

I have written many letters to the concerned authorities in India but

they feel the certificates will be misused. But I think if the

candidates are properly screened then such short term courses will make

ayurveda more popular. Doctors will not have to convince their patients

about the efficacy of ayurveda. The patients too will be able to

understand that real healing may take a little time and that the

reactions of the body as it tries to return to health are good signals

and not side effects.

I would request vaidyas to kindly air their views on the matter.

Regards,

Jagannath.
