Guest guest
Dear Friends, We had many traditional methods that had become a part of our lives. The Muslims have always practiced male circumcision as a prevention against veneral diseases. Now it has emerged that the much maligned method is indeed a very effective tool. Ayurveda and Yoga have rich tradition. Can Ayurveda or alternative science explain the reasons? Regards, Jagannath. Expert urges circumcision to combat AIDS Sunday, 25 September , 2005, 22:11 Cape Town: A South African AIDS expert Saturday advocated male circumcision as the best available "vaccine" against the virus in his country, where an estimated 6 million people are infected and more than 600 people die every day. Francois Venter told a congress of health activists in the Treatment Action Campaign that a recent survey in the Soweto township indicated that circumcised men were 65 percent less likely to contract AIDS than those who had not been circumcised. "We dream of a vaccine which has this efficacy," said Venter, clinical director of the Reproductive Health and HIV Research at the University of Witwatersrand. "The results are phenomenal." Guest guest
This has *got* to be advocated by some sick health insurance thing.. there have been studies in the past. In general circumcised men tend to be less vulnerable to veneral diseases IF they aren't hygenic. otherwise the chances of contracting the diseases are equal. --- Jagannath Chatterjee <jagchat01 wrote: > Dear Friends, > > We had many traditional methods that had become a > part of our lives. Guest guest
Dear Jagannath, I do not believe it is some magical formula that protects someone after circumcision. It is only more hygienic. The prepuce can be easily retracted and cleaned during a bath. Perhaps, in those, who are hygienically "challenged", the virus stays in the space between the prepuce and the penis, and can harbor the disease. If you are circumcised, there is automatic cleansing during a shower / bath. Durgesh Mankikar,MD
