Guest guest
My girlfriend is suffering with a chronic scalp damage since 1993 where she used one time a L'Oreal at-home hair dye kit. Her scalp became EXTREMELY red and itchy and she immediately went to see a specialist doctor who could not help her. Her skin became better after some time, but it chronically red and FLAKY. Is this permanent genetic damage? She says she has slowly and gradually over the years lost 50% or her hair follicles after this, although your wouldnt think so when you saw her hair, as she had SO much hair before. She is 48. I need input for an ayurvedic based protocol to treat this. I am wondering about coconut based medical scalp oils, which ones can be recommended. She is eating healthy and organic, she is very aware of healthy foods. Her choice of shampoos has since been the 'natural' ones, but I know these has not been completely free of chemicals. So I need input on this also. And if there are aurvedic internal medicines to treat this. I know this is treating the external symptoms, but it is this incident with these dye chemicals that created the scalp disease in the first place. Thanks for your help, Ole Alstrup
Guest guest
Red ness of scalp is due to sensitive reaction of the skin against hair dye. So you have to use any anti allergic drug., as dry powder of curatoim is the best anti allergic herbal drug for internal use. And for dry hair with dendruf due to dye., local application with gental massage of captur oil is much beneficial as it has highly soothing effect. So go through these and reply on follow up. ... Guest guest
hi ole the chemical damage may in fact have caused a genetic mutation in skin, but its likely that the original damage has simply never healed properly i would suggest not using ANY shampoos at all - even natural shampoos contain skin-irritating detergents a preparation like bhringaraja tala for several weeks could be applied for several weeks at night before bed (after application the hair can be tied up and covered with a plastic shower cap), and in the morning using a herbal hair rinse to get as much of the oil out as possible - obviously having very short hair is a much more workable scenario for this treatment) you aren't limited to indian herbal preparations, and if its more convenient a medicated oil prepared with comfrey leaf, horsetail, rosemary etc. in olive oil might be just as effective in addition, i would recommend nutrients that promote tissue healing including vit A (20,000 IU/d), C (2-3 g/d), E (800 iu/d), zinc (50 mg/d) and omega 3 fatty acids (1000 mg ea EPA/DHA/d) with hair loss, i might recommend herbs like horsetail, amla and the chinese herb he shou wu, and do a review of endocrinal function since hair loss is common in several endocrinal disorders such as hypothyroidism good luck... todd caldecott On 25-Sep-05, at 4:22 AM, ayurveda wrote: > > My girlfriend is suffering with a chronic scalp damage since 1993 where > she used one time a L'Oreal at-home hair dye kit. Guest guest
Hello Dr Ketan Thank you for your reply. I can find zero online references for both "curatoim" powder or "captur" oil. Is this ayurvedic?? If someone with experience has input to the original query below, I would be most grateful.
