Guest guest
Jagannath, I am so surprised to see the Indian government's plans to ban the sale of non-iodized salt.. It is particularily interesting for me, as one of the first things I ask my patients to do is to change their ground-sourced, iodized salt to sea salt, along with changing their main fat source to cow's ghee. It seems to me that the diversity of trace minerals in sea salt is more important than adding only iodine. After all, the sea exists in us as well as outside of us. It seems obvious that we should take sea salt. Could it be that because sea salt is freely given by the sea, and iodized salt requires processing that this is some kind of business ploy to control the salt in India? What is also interesting about salt is that there is so much fear about it in America. Many people do not take it for fear of high blood pressure. This can be problamatic in many cases, and may actually cause the artery walls to become hard. Given this, it is difficult to convince someone with hardening of the arteries to take salt (to soften them). How intersting the issue of salt is these days. Guest guest
Dear Toni, We too are surprised at this. We are unable to understand why the Government is trying to restrict the consumption of common salt. We understand that besides iodized salt the Government is also planning to introduce iron fortified salt. While such salts may be necessary for certain sections of the population it does seem incomprehensible why the common man has to be burdened with such additives.
