Guest guest
Dear Shirish, As we say in the US of A, a guy asks his friend, who had just come back from a political rally, what did he say ? He tells him, he said a lot but didn't tell us about what. I feel we should define our topic, and stick only to it, and write short and succinct e-mails, instead of writing at-large articles about our opinions about life's philosophies. There are some salient points in your e-mail, but I differ on many others. a) the word--Purusha has nothing to do with warrior principle, either in Sanskrit or in Vedanta. I am not sure what to make of your conclusion----hence the name , etc.... We have to stick to what is written in Vedanta or what is directly a translation of a Sanskrit word, instead of Editorializing our opinions, when it comes to Vedantic terms. If you read Purushasukta, you'll realize that it is not about war or warriors. The rest of the discussion about Jijamata or about Rani Laxmibai, etc have nothing to do with Ayurveda. b) Throughout the world....etc, and young girls think only of marriage....etc, are outdated ideas even for current Indian lifestyle. Women think of Careers, and are not too happy about the family's insistence on marriage, unless they really know and like the boy. Many girls go through the process only to please the parents or the society, and would rather concentrate on their careers, if given a chance. As for the marriage itself, the only reason perhaps to marry an older man is economic security, and nothing else. Again, given a chance, they'll marry whoever they fall in love with--a younger or an older man. c) I do not know how best to describe the rest of the posting other than random rambling. At some point in time, we all have to take responsibility for the topic--ayurveda-on-line and stick to it only. If it is nothing to do with Ayurveda, and for just information, let us atleast keep it brief. Many psychiatrists and students of various branches of social sciences have struggled throughout their lifetimes to study these differences. Throughout the world we see that older men marry women lesser than their age. Every community tries to preserve this tradition keeping in mind healthy progency. Women are better warriors. Full chapter in a book written by a woman author in 1630-1640 span mentions this. Rani Laxmibai, Rani Chennama of Kittur in India history have amply proven this. In recent times, Ma Jijabai, the mother of Shivaji indoctrinated Shivaji to fight against Muslims, even when Shivaji's father was in the service of Muslim kings.
