Guest guest
As per ancient ayurvedic texts, and as told to me by a local ayurved, sarpagandha was originally used to treat headache, anxiety and snakebites. It was later that it is used to treat BP. In case of snakebite, a tourniquet was applied, the bite wound expanded by slicing with a sharp rajor, joining the two fang marks, and the infected blood was then sucked out by the physician. Then a preparation of sarpagandha was applied. Anxiety and headache are very commonplace today and very few report to the doctor in the initial stages. However in earlier days when the patients were not so accustomed to anxiety spells, they must have contacted the vaidya early. Regards, Jagannath.
