Dear Friends,

Swami Ramdev, the Indian monk and Yoga and Pranayama expert, exploded again in a

private TV channel yesterday, where he hit out at the people who, he said, were

annoyed at his statements targetting modern medicine and the MNC food and

beverages giants. "It's very strange, he said, that in our society the truth is

no longer welcome." he said in "Astha" a TV channel of India which is also

beamed to 18 other countries including the UK and the USA.

He alleged that many influential people had "requested" him to restrict himself

to his teachings of Yoga and not make their misdeeds public. It has already been

reported that in pockets of North India, where the Swami is extremely popular,

attendances of chronic patients in hospitals have fallen and also the sales of

MNC food and beverages giants. Millions of others have benefitted by following

his yoga instructions beamed by many TV channels in India.

"I will not stop my tirade against the pharmaceutical giants who peddle death

and disease," reiterated the Swami who has admitted that he has had to make

arrangements for his own safety and security. "I'm a renunciating monk and am

not afraid of death," he claimed, "but I'll prefer to continue in this body till

I achieve my objectives." The objectives of the Swami are well known, he has

vowed not to rest till both drugs and disease are eradicated.

"I do not belong to any political organisation as I believe that our politicians

are leading us astray rather than showing us the road to a free and fair

society" he candidly proclaimed. "I have taken a vow not to join politics, let

those who accuse me of political motivations be aware of that." The Swami also

declared how a sneer campaign was on against his views on morality and ethics

and its absence in today's society. "It is not enough just to stay healthy," he

cautioned, "we must gravitate towards a higher life."

The Swami bemoaned that in today's society the criminal elements were allowed to

rule the roost while the virtuous sat passively watching them and hoping that

God would incarnate to save the world. "This is not what our religion preaches,"

he declared, echoing the views of Swami Vivekananda who had made the same

statement a century earlier. "If God has given us two hands then we must strive

to save the world from the clutches of the criminal elements. It won't do to sit

at home and chant the name of the Lord. That is plain cowardice, not virtue."

The Swami hinted that he had many other exposes under wraps and would reveal

them in time. It must be mentioned that the Swami has won the first round

against his distractors when a group of 50 mainstream doctors had studied his

claims of having cured various serious and chronic diseases through yoga,

pranyama and ayurveda, and found them to be correct. To prove his distractors

wrong and to avoid being dubbed "unscientific" the Swami has taken great pains

to install the latest testing procedures in a full fledged laboratory in his

Patanjali Yoga Institute situated at Haridwar, India.

Regards,

Jagannath.
