Guest guest
With all due apologies to Jagannath and Dr Bhate, Aashish Phadke is absolutely right. Yes, Ayurveda should be modernized. But, not by giving "statins". That is not Ayurveda. There is no harm is finding out the effects of Ayurvedic medicine on Hemoglobin, or Protein excretion in Urine, the Blood Pressure, or the X-ray picture after the treatment, etc to make sure that the Ayurvedic Medicines are indeed working, that they are working in the right direction and that indeed the patient is improving and not worsening. The other way to modernize Ayurveda is by "double-blind" studies, and to see which combinations work and which do not, or which work better than some other combinations. Granted, that each patient is different, in which case, only the lab tests will show the effect. I also agree with Asshish that one should not prescribe Ayurvedic Medicines without examining the patient, either. I do not like people in this column suggesting--You may" try" this, that is not Ayurveda, and that does no justice to either the science of Ayurveda or to the patient. As for Jagannath's observation of people living healthy "satvic" lives, is a different story. Those , who do not, cannot be cured by just people wishing taht there should be cure. Pregnancy does not diappear by putting " vanishing cream". ( That's a joke, by the way !!) Durgesh Mankikar,MD ayurveda wrote: "Prof.Dr. Aashish Phadke" re.Modernisation of Ayurveda !! There is a small request here ! Do we all know ( at least Ayurvedacharyas, Ayurved Vachaspati )we can not jump to conclusion & go on statin medications on net unless we have seen the patient, interogated him properly, with trividha or Ashtavidha Pariksha !! ... ... I think we need not debate on issues like C.Section on Ayurved groups , don't you think all these discussions although very interesting & informative , but still out of way to the subjects of ayurveda !
