Guest guest
Dear Group: This last week I have been very sick, because of poly-pharmacy of my young, overly enthusiastic cardiologist. I need to know what to take or to avoid to get my kidneys working correctly again. My eyes are yellow with red bloodshot areas and skin is dehydrated and very rough. Also, I had a very bad reaction to glucophage/metformin I have been taking for over a year with bad diarrhea. I got used to the situation when my earlier doctor said it was just a side effect of the drug, then I got very busy and forgot to follow up on that information. Now the cardiologist is pushing for an angiogram and the dye is going to make my kidneys much worse. I was in the emergency room last weekend because his nurse told me my kidneys were failing. The tests were borderline okay and I was told to discontinue the metformin. My mouth still tastes very strongly of salt and I cannot stay hydrated. I am drinking and drinking and drinking and not urinating very much at all. The doctor still has me on a diuretic. I am afraid to get treatment; I am afraid to refuse treatment in case the artery needs a stent... Darla Wells
