Guest guest
Not quite so fast. On the network news today, there was a report on restaurants. Some fast food restaurants in the US have made low fat entrees available in the past few years. The trouble is that people are not buying them. Instead they are purchasing the high fat foods. ultimately the consumer drives the marketplace and in the US the high fat wins along with the big behinds. (I'm thin) Regarding obesity, schools in America are now banning the sale of fast food and cola drinks in the school canteens. Do you know what they are opting for instead? Indian lassi, a buttermilk preparation very popular in North India. I think in the next few years we may see a revolution in the way food is related to health. We seem to be returning to our roots after a failed experiment that has killed millions all over the world. GB Khalsa
Guest guest
I hope so. School food when I was a child 40 years ago was good, hot, nourishing and cooked on the spot. There was no Taco Bell on the grounds and students did not have all the candy and coke machines. We were all a lot thinner then, too. Did you hear about the school district that was "compromising" and filling the coke machines only half full of sodas and half full of the high fructose corn syrup juices? They were just bragging about what a giant step they had made in children's health on the news. It made me kind of sick. High fructose corn syrup is the work of the devil, I swear...
