Guest guest
Dear Friends, I have received a number of private mails on this subject suggesting that medicines are unnecessary while treating disease. Now, while I would definitely resist the overmedication resorted by a certain system, I cannot entirely rule out the beneficial aspects of external aids. I know that in the past people were able to shake off disease based on mental powers alone. However we must note here that we have largely lost those mental powers of getting rid of disease at the physical level. There is also a paucity of genuine spiritual healers. At any rate their numbers cannot solve the enormous health crisis that looms ahead and is also upon us at this very instant. There is also a need to educate ourselves and also the future generation regarding the untapped potential of the mind and spirit. We all know that we barely use 20% of our brain. Perhaps to access the other 80% we have to step out of the thinking process imposed on us by physical science. Many would shudder at this and point out that we would once again be swamped with superstition and irrational behaviour. I don't think we need to worry about that. We have mentally evolved enough to resist the dark forces, most of them having taken shelter under the aegis of science, rationalism and "correct" political thinking anyway. The immense popularity of the Harry Potter series among children all over the world is a heartening feature inasmuch that children have yet to completely discard the powers of imagination. A very good link on children and their spiritual origins would not be out of place here; http://www.theosociety.org/pasadena/sunrise/34-84-5/edu-arm.htm But till we come up to the stage where the majority of us have access to such mental powers we need external aid. And we must not forget that disease starts by affecting the mind. This is exactly why the weakened mind of a patient cannot throw of the disease force. Thus alternative medicine with its emphasis on prevention, vitality building procedures, spiritual help and minimum medication should be encouraged to flourish. However this does not mean that I am discounting the benefits of spiritual healing. We have seen enough miracles that owe their origin to such methods. Regards, Jagannath.
