Guest guest
Namaste, everyone First, I must thank God that I found this group. It looks fascinating and really neat. I figured I'd introduce myself and at the same time solicit some advice, so I'll get to it. About me: I'm almost 28 from Dallas, TX, and my fiance of 6 years and I are going to go to chiropractic school together, starting in about 2 years. We are also registered massage therapists in Texas. After chiropractic school, we would also like to go on to learn acupuncture and become licensed acupuncturists. We would also like to learn about herbs, nutrition, detoxification, and ashtanga yoga. I became interested in Ayurveda through my recent reawakening into Sanatana Dharma. I am seeking formal entrance into the Saivite sect as we speak. I know very little about Ayurveda so far, as I've only been studying it for less than a month. I know that my type is Pitta, specifically Pitta-Vata. My health issue: I have a very severe case of eczema, and it only seems to be spreading. The few new patches that improve or clear up altogether are replaced by new ones elsewhere almost immediately. The biggest problem is, it started on my wrists, on the palm side. That was a year and a half ago. Now it has engulfed my ring fingers on both hands, my middle finger and pinky on my right side, the pinky-side edge of both hands, and it is creeping up the inside of both forearms. And it itches like mad, especially just before bed (which is around 1am) and upon waking in the morning (usually around 7.30-8.30am). It's worse on my right side, by far. (Though a few weeks ago it had spread to the left half of my face and itched and burned some, but that has calmed down now and all that's left of the eczema rash on my face is a few rough dry spots that don't itch.) The rash has now crept around to the backside of my right hand, which spells disaster for me as a massage therapist, as I can no longer hide the rash from clients due to the fact that it's on both sides. Of course, it's not contagious at all, but try telling clients that when they see that they're about to be (or have already been) touched by these AWFUL-looking hands! Along with this rash have been bouts of irritability, arrogance, hotheadedness, impatience, and some anger. I also have an interesting body scent, sort of skunky, on the left side, that deodrant does not effectively mask much at all. I have altered my diet to where I'm consuming foods that are appropriate for Pitta (according to one of my books), because the problem looks to be a case of Pitta gone out of control (again, according to one of my books). But now I'm looking for personal, and perhaps professional, interaction or advice. Has anyone had eczema and successfully beat it? Is anyone here a healthcare professional of any kind who has seen eczema and knows how to beat it? I have never had this before, only for the last year and a half. Please help! Any advice is greatly appreciated. It is completely against my nature, beliefs, and principles to band-aid the symptom with drugs that have uncertain results and toxic effects on the body, without addressing the real cause of this issue, whatever it is. Thanks so much in advance! Replies on- or off-list are welcome, either one. I look forward to interacting with all of you, and hopefully someday I'll be qualified to offer advice to others in need. Thanks again! Om shanti, --Jyoti (aka Jeni-Laura)
Guest guest
Living an Ayurvedic Lifestyle and practice of yoga meditation will help, although most cases of this I have seen occur do to repressed past trauma, or feelings that are being denied to a very great degree. Have I seen it disappear all the way? No, but in my humble opinion it appears to be because the people who suffered from it were not able to face either the memories or express the feelings that were bubbling under the surface and manifesting on the skin. You may want to try and find a counselor or an EFT (_www.emofree.com_ (http://www.emofree.com) ) practitioner. You may also benefit by meditations on complete and total self acceptance. Meditating on divine love pouring into and around you, and then visualize your body as it is...see your "awful" looking hands and accept them totally and completely as they are. Using the affirmation..."Even though my body manifests this condition and I think it is awful (or whatever you think about it) I completely and profoundly accept myself." Continue with this meditation until it really feels true in your awareness. There is a lot to be said for the physical aspects of Ayurveda, but too often I feel the mental is ignored and in a case like yours, the root cause is rarely the physical...especially if one takes care of their body, eats for their type and maintains a natural whole foods diet. Explore your mind and the thoughts you habitually think. Become the witnessing consciousness and scientifically observe your thoughts and emotions throughout the day in regards to yourself and others. Do not judge...simply watch as though you are watching a movie. I think you may find the key to your condition there. Love and Blessings, Ryan In a message dated 7/26/2005 12:28:56 A.M. Bitter test will be useful to u like bitter gourd,If u get neem(azadirecta indica)there u may have to consume 20no.s of its tender leaves, u may take the bath with the water boiled by its bark or leaves,u can make the paste from its bark, mix with the sandal (red) paste and apply at the affected parts for 1 hour, avoid fish and acidic food, keep your bowel always clear. There are many other ayurvedic formulations can help but i am not aware of their availability at your place supervixen08 <supervixen08 wrote: I have a very severe case of eczema, and it only seems to be spreading.
