Guest guest Posted July 17, 2005 Report Share Posted July 17, 2005 Dear Friends, The Apollo Hospital group of India, a super speciality chain of hospitals, has opened an alternative medicine wing which was recently formally inaugurated by the Chief Minister of New Delhi. The opening of this wing became necessary as the doctors started referring terminal cases to ayurveds and homeopaths. So the hospital thought that if it has an inhouse facility it could retain the patients, and the money of course. However this move has not been very well received by the medical community who prefer that alternate medicine should be called, "complimentary medicine", ie complimentary to allopathy. "We prefer to term it complimentary medicine rather than alternative medicine. Another problem is the paucity of evidence, not enough data to prove its worth.’’ We can understand the discomfiture !!!
