Turner, Esq., Board Chair, Citizens for Health Rome, July 5, 2005: Summary : ------- 1. Consumer rights groups sit and work out modalities to blunt impact of Codex. 2. They point out Codex goes against vital supplement laws of most countries, who are not happy with Codex. 3. This reality, the advocates suggested, opens several opportunities for action to limit the damage the guidelines will cause. 4. They advocate non restrictive alternatives to Codex for many Asian and African countries. A movement was advocated to push this line of offence. 5. The structure of Codex itself can be brought under scrutiny. 6.They pointed out WHO was not happy with Codex for not concerning itself with health issues despite heavy funding. 7. WHO was trying to bring Codex under WHO/FAO thus limiting its existence as an independant entity.
