They recommend about 100 compressions a minute. Also there is less fear from people to do it like you said because of all the diseases going around. GB Khalsa By the way, CPR is exactly that. Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation. You cannot do it , unless you have the appropriate equipment. Nobody is going to give a mouth to mouth resuscitation to any stranger with all the diseases floating around. However, you can call 911, and be of help in other ways until proper help comes around.
