Guest guest
Dear all, Could it be one of the reasons from the ayurvedic point of view? In ayurveda garlic...Lahshuna or Rasona is considerd as a High pitta prakopakara drug owing to its high ushna veerya and teekshna gunas. And as you all know pitta is of Rajasa guna. Thus lashuna is rajasa food.A monk need to be in abundance of Satwa guna.Rajasaguna is exactly opponent to satwaguna. This is precisely what i feel.I request scholars to elaborate and contribute your views in this point. Guest guest
Dear Dr Venugopal, Namaskar. I can only discuss certain philosophical points here with you. Of course we cannot deny that philosophy and spirituality forms the basis of ayurveda as it is descended from the Vedas and also from Lord Siva. While talking of Sattwa, Rajas and Tamas, I feel that we should not lean too much towards one or the other but strike a balance. In creation we see that all the three gunas are required for work on the earthly plane; Sattwa - Refined, meditative, knowledgeable, advisor. Rajas - Active, fighter, justice giver, administrator. Tamas - Grassroot level worker. Works without questioning. Therefore we should keep in mind the nature of work and ashrama of the patient before advising diet or medicine. We cannot advice either rajasic or tamasic food to the monk. We cannot force the kshatriya towards a sattwic life. Neither can we deny tamasic food to the labourer who finds it a relief from the drudgery and dullness of his work, unless of course he is in a critical stage or when he requires moderation. Just my opinion Sir. Love & Regards, Jagannath.
